Reverb not working?? Also, 5w/15w mode question.

I figured out how to get those silver sleeves off and have a look at the 12ax7. I don't know how to tell if a tube is bad or good... so I plugged it back in, and it glows. I guess it could be the reverb transformer. How long did you say the warranty is on these things?

Reverb not working?? Also, 5w/15w mode question.

Hey, thanks. I might look into getting a NOS tube - I had a search but couldn't really track down what I was looking for amongst all the other talk about mods.

Reverb not working?? Also, 5w/15w mode question.

Getting value for money here with more than one question per post. 1. Strange... There's no reverb on my LSS. I turned it up on channel 1 & 2, switched between bright and warm, and still no reverb - at all. I did check to see the reverb jack is plugged in and gave it a wiggle! Anybody had this...

Anyone else get the hum after switching off?

Definitely, yeah. I usually leave it for a minute after I put it on standby before turning the main power off. Sometimes it's a quick minute when I get impatient... I'm not sure if you're supposed to wait any length of time before turning the main power off after the standby. Turning the amp on...

Anyone else get the hum after switching off?

I've been studying the tubes while powering on and off, and the speaker doesn't make the hiss/hum sound anymore! :? That's a good thing, I guess. Maybe it had something to do with wearing in a new tube?? I have no idea... I am just happy when the amp works 8)

Anyone else get the hum after switching off?

Hmm, doesn't sound too promising. I think I'll ring them and see what they say. Luckily I'm not playing live at the moment so there's not the added stress...

Anyone else get the hum after switching off?

I am pretty sure this didn't happen before my rectifier tube was replaced: when I switch my amp off, the speaker hums for a few seconds then fades. Not too loud but definitely noticeable. Maybe it's normal... Does this happen to anyone else, or can anyone explain what's happening? Cheers

LSS: No Sound on 5w and 15w Setting

That sounds good. Do non-mesa tubes void the amp's warranty? What makes them last so long where others won't?

LSS: No Sound on 5w and 15w Setting

Well, that explains it, then. Thanks. I didn't know the 30w rectifier was solid state. Now I do! I just found this in the instructions: Kind of handy when the rectifier tube blows that you can still play in 30w mode :)

LSS: No Sound on 5w and 15w Setting

On my 5 and 15 watt settings, on both channels, I had no sound, but the 30w settings worked just fine. :? Anyone else had this problem? When I was switching the amp on, the 5Y3 tube would flash bright blue for an instant (but it didn't do it the next day). Replacing the 5Y3 tube fixed the...

    LSS and G-System

At the moment I have just left it at 12 o'clock. I found this in the instructions: I think I understand what they mean by this, but with the GSys you can also adjust the input level. So, I figure I'll just leave the Send Level at 12 o'clock and adjust anything else on the GSys :?

    LSS and G-System

Hi all, Is anybody in there running a g-system through their LSS? I am curious to see what level settings you are using in the GS to find the best sound (without sacrificing too much of that beautiful Lonestar tone). Also, how high do you have the send level set on the LSS? Is it best to set...

    Unidentified Jack - Lonestar Special

Something I have found very useful is the electronic version of the instructions; you can search for a particular word and find it easily. In your case a search for "reverb" or "jack" leads you to it without too much pain. The electronic instructions are easily found on the Mesa-Boogie webstie. 8)

    Changing Valves in LSS

Too easy, thanks! Upside down's not a bad idea either.

This is why I love owning Boogies...

I just picked myself up a lonestar special. I went in to the amp buying process with an open mind - actually that's not quite true: I went in thinking what I need is a fender amp because I'm moving into country/blues/rock style music. Surely, fender! Anyhow, the cleans on 'em were good but, I...

    Changing Valves in LSS

Hi guys, being a brand new LSS owner, I have lots of dumb questions. Here's one: when changing tubes do you pull that steel grille off the back to make it easier to access the tubes, or is that not necessary? Cheers!

    LSS 8ohm optional load

Hey guys. I read the manual but, being the dumb-rs that I am, wasn't certain whether they meant just change the internal speaker over to the optional jack or to put something else in addition to the internal speaker. While I'm still here, has anyone changed tubes in the LSS? Is it easy to get...

    LSS 8ohm optional load

This quote came from the LSS manual. When they say "8 ohm load" are they talking about an extension cab, or is there a different way to connect an 8 ohm load that isn't a speaker? Anyone run the amp this way? And does it wear power tubes quicker, slower? I picked up my new LSS yesterday: it's...

    LSS FX Loop

Haha There's always between a certain rivalry between Syd and Mel. I visited Mel for the first time in January; it was pretty funky and there's supposed to be a better music scene down there. Although, I'm not persuaded to move there

    LSS FX Loop

Hey thanks man, That is good to hear the G works well with the LSS! I plan on using the shortest cables that I can; I'll see if I can sit a rack on top of, or behind, the LSS. Thanks, also for the info on the cables. So much more to playing guitar than just playing guitar, hey. Cheers Mark
