Sometimes, I feel like I'm done with this amp

Sometimes I feel like there's not enough gain, like the distortion is too scratchy, like the bass is too fuzzy Then I take it into a big room and turn it up real loud. :D

    Allen Class Act

What do you guys think of it? Anyone have any experience with it? Basically all I hear of it is that it does the Plexi thing really well. I think the option to use all those different kinds of power tubes is pretty cool.

    Chord definition question

When playing guitar, acoustic or electric, you'll notice that chords played on the low side of the neck have considerably less definition than the same chord shapes played higher on the neck, especially with a capo. Why is this? Is it scale length? Or is it just that the guitars physical...

    Technical question about cathode biasing

Ok. So forgive me if this question is a little bit simple, but I'm still just learning how amplifiers work. I'm reading some old NEETS manuals that get very in depth to how exactly electricity works and its applications. I'm at the part about how vacuum tubes work. They have a schematic of a...

    Satisfied with the old 25

Interested to hear about the new Expresses, being that they're what I wanted in the first place. But I feel the need to state that I'm still completely satisfied with my old Express loaded with 2 12AU7's and a SignaComp in front. Never played a Dumble, but if Youtube can be counted on at all it...

    Weird question...

So I finally got myself a cheap Behringer mixer just so I could use 2 mics at once, cause my interface only has 1 XLR input. I was tracking some guitars and had my monitors plugged directly into the mixer. Sounded great. Decided to hit record and plugged the monitors back into the interface and...

    Luthier stuff

So, I'm sick of paying $80 a pop for a basic setup. I would love to learn how to set up my own guitars, but it can be a bit tough to learn. I'm looking for - Basic tips of setting up a guitar with an Edge III (Ibanez) floating tremolo - Videos on how to set up guitars - Things to avoid Thanks!

    Grounding Problem

So, whenever I'm touching the guitar and I roll off the tone knob or volume knob completely, I get a radio station coming through my amplifier. Is this a problem in the grounding of my house, or a problem with the grounding of my guitar? I'm using a ground drop plug and a furman power strip.

Logic 8 Guitar Amp Pro (useable?)

Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on this plug in. I have yet to get a good sounding mix whenever this thing is involved in a recording of mine. I can get mixes fine from my real amp, but not this thing. Anyone have the same issue? I know there are better options, but since I don't take DI...

    Back to low gain tubes...

Had all 12AX7's in again for a while and decided to stop using my compressor pedal. The sound was tolerable. Plugged the compressor pedal and put in two 12AU7's. Forgot how awesome the sound was. Yes, it seems extreme. Yes, the gain is turned all the way up on the crunch channel. But, yes, it...

    Why Dumble?

Why is it that no one can seem to replicate this amp? Why can no one get us the Dumble tone for less than $30,000?

Need a simple mic pre schematic

The preamp in my interface just isn't doing it for me. I'd like to find a pretty simple tube mic pre schematic. I mean really simple. A tube and a gain knob is really all I need. I just don't know how to build one. If anyone knows where to get the schematic for a Blue Robbie preamp that would be...

    5:25's do it better

Sorry, but I just gotta gush for a bit about the dynawatt circuitry. I think it's awesome that you can get most of the distortion from the preamp, and then turn it up loud enough to get some ridiculous dynamics going because of the way the power amp is wired. Burn mode is actually a lot of fun...

    Class AB vs Class A

Since there are so many Boogies out there with both Class A and Class AB modes now, I was just wondering how many of you use Class A for dirt?

Compressor pedal (CMATMODS) and Jensen C12K for sale

I put them up on amazon. The CMATMODS Deluxe Signa Comp is going for $100. It was recently repaired by Chad himself and is working as good as new. It can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B004E5FU9I/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used The Jensen C12K is going for $80...

    CMATMODS Customer Service

Just need to give this guy some props. Bought a Deluxe Signa Comp from him what I thought was a year ago. Thing sounded great until a couple months ago where the output of the pedal would drop dramatically. Told him about it, and he said that the pedal that I owned was actually quite a bit older...

Low wattage amps and bass response

I was reading through the TA-15 manual and it was mentioning a lot of things about it being easier to get a flubby sound when in the low watt modes. I have a 5:25, and typically I don't run the bass high enough in the 5 or 25 watt modes for this to ever be an issue, however I do notice that...

    2x10 speaker advice

Looking to get an open back 2x10 cab. What speakers do you guys like? I've heard good things about the G-10's.

    5:25 6V6's/6A5Q's

Any mad scientist types who have tried a pin adapter to be able to use these two tubes? Since they're so similar in specs to the EL84 I can't imagine too much havoc being wrought on the amp. Then again, I don't know much about circuitry.
