List your Recto's preamp tubes please :)

OK, I'll play: V1: TungSol V2: EH V3: GT 12AX7-C (Shuguang) (Mesa only has JJs anymore, and they're WAY too dark) V4: GT 12AX7-C (Shuguang) V5: TungSol Nice and balanced - rich without too much fizz, but still bright. A lot of people seem to like the EH in V2, and I've had one there for about...

    General Triple Recto questions

You're not really likely to hit the sweet spot for power amp distortion on a Dual for small club shows, either, unless you really want the soundman to hate you for being blisteringly loud. The major difference isn't in volume, it's in headroom. I went with a Triple because I like a clean...

Opinions on a Pre 500 Dual Rectifier

Well, at least this has reminded me why I don't post here much. Sheesh.

    Good Cables

I won't buy any more Monster cables because I disagree with their business practices. However, they do sound pretty good. I use George L's. They twist sometimes, but I've not heard anything that I thought sounded "better".

    Proud 3ch Triple Rectifier Owners

Nearly six years on mine, and I still love it. Of course, being a gearhead, I'm still tweaking it... ;)

axess CFX4 channel switcher with a 3ch rect + gsystem

Setup speed and simplicity. I use the 1/4" jacks, and I have my system down pretty good, but plugging in one cable would definitely be easier and faster.

axess CFX4 channel switcher with a 3ch rect + gsystem

I have the CFX4 that I use with my TripleRec without the special cable - I haven't had a chance to send it back to Mario to get it modded for it. (The new ones come already set up for it, and it's definitely worth it - one plug and you're done.) It's been bulletproof for 6 years, and Mario's...

Giving the Recto Sound a Haircut.

I've had - and preached about here - excellent results of a similar nature with the TungSol 12AX7 reissues in V1 of my Triple. It definitely tames the fizz...

    i have a triple rectifier..and need a question asked

I have a 3ch Triple, and it does sound *slightly* different than a Dual - and I prefer the slight difference, which is mainly a "tighter" bottom end.

    Can the Stiletto do Metal?

Having spent considerable time with an Ace combo, I'm seriously considering it to replace my TripleRec, and I *definitely* play metal. So, yeah, no problems with that - it sounds like a bad-*** high-gain modded Marshall, and if that isn't metal, I don't know what is. ;)

    just joined the stiletto clan

I've now spent some extensive time with the Ace combo. Mesa really fixed this amp - I hated the series I Deuce and Trident I played, but the Ace combo knocked me out...

    distortion pedal +clean channel recto?

I'm actually crazy enough to use a Boss SD-1 into the TS I use (for a boost on my gain channels) into the clean of my 3Ch Triple. It does a decent job of emulating a JCM800 with a SD-1 in front of it...

Finally settling into disappointment with the Roadster

Honestly? Before selling your amp, change V1 to a TungSol 12AX7 reissue. I had similar issues with my Triple Rec before I changed tubes...

    Just bought a Pre500 Blackface

I'm pretty familiar with this one, as well, since the previous owner is my drummer. ;) It's a good sounding two channel, for sure.

    Educate me on Triple Rectifiers..

All of the Triples I've played sound distinctly different from Duals. The higher headroom changes the tone. I think the three channel Triple is the best sounding of the current Solo heads, which is why I have one. ;)

    Rectifier with celestion G12K-100 speakers

My cab is a friggin' tank. One of the reason I kept using it was that it was SO much better built than the Marshalls practically everyone else was using. The Peavey cabs today are, comparatively, a joke. Mine's 20 years old, and the tolex is ripped, but the cab has seen gigs for years and has no...

    Rectifier with celestion G12K-100 speakers

Yeah, it's a 412MS. I think all their cabs until 1991-92 or so had either the Peavey Scorpions or the Celestion G12K-85s in them. I love the cab (I bought it new with a Peavey "Butcher" head in 1987), and I think it sounds really nice with the Recto - very similar to the "standard" cab with C90s.

    New Mesa Boogie rumor

Clear proof it's a joke: Randall Smith would never sign off on adjustable bias.

FS: Road King series 1 head

I can vouch for this being a really "good one". I recorded a bunch of stuff on it and it sounds great!

Just bought a recto 4x12 cab. What a waste of $899... Help?

Take the cab back to GC and have them order you a Stiletto cab with C90s in it. They're the same price. ;) (Seriously, I *hate* V30s). However, the real starting place is your settings. I've played my Triple through the Peavey cab you had on numerous occasions, and the Sheffields are very...
