actually i dont think i will get back to recto...i dont like loose amps and the roadster was terrible when trying to play fast riffs:D

the thing is that i used the john petrucci settings...:O i got to be something wrong with it...the musicstore special ordered the mark IV for me. could be delivery damage. to wildrat666: i find the rectos much much more bassy and less mids than the engl powerball

really?!:O that was one of the reason why i dropped the roadster...because it ididnt cut through. and the powerball got lots of mids and cut through very well:O

actually i think it was some wrong with it...heard many clips of it that sounds alot better than the sound on the musicstore

today i made my decision and traded my roadster. the options were: Mesa dual rectifier Mesa mark IV Evh 5150 Engl Powerball i tried em all through a Mesa cab and i started with the mark IV, first though: where is the gain?! i got 10 on both drive and gain and still there was much gain...

a friend of mine had a triple rec and a marshall cab...it sounded kinda muddy and unclear...when he got his mesa cab i was stunned by the difference, crystal clear and the bottom end blew my head off!

i dont think it matters what amp u get...u still gonna tweak alot... :)

if u cant play loud then u shouldnt buy a mesa...i guess thats why they set the volume so high

i find my roadster the same...but only on high volumes...got the master on 12:00 and when i put the output above 10:00 it starts to get "boomy", "punchy" especially when i palm mute. im worried that when i mic it up live that it sounds bad :shock: could it be the speakers? i got shitty JJ...

i use to almost crank the presence...make the bass respons much tighter, also the sound get very sharp and aggresive. Diode, 100 watt, bold Gain: 1:00 Treble: 1:00 Middle: 9:00 - 11:00 Bass: 1:00 - 3:00 Presence: 3:00 - 5:00 sounds great to me also cut through in the band stay metal dudes;)

i like 1 the most, very nice chunk :D nice mid range too......i have no idea about cabs but i guess the 1 is stiletto and 3 rectifier, the 2.....not a clue

hmmm cranked gain and cranked treble will give you tons of squels no matter what pickups or how long u are standing from it

gain at 9 o'clock on channel 4 :O thats almost completely clean sound:/
