Help on Lonestar Special 1x12 or 2x12

A number of people have gone the 1x12 + 1x12 ext cab. Personally I went the 2x12 after testing both. Was a bit cheaper than the 1x12/1x12, and I don't have to move it around much (which is obviously a factor in a decision like this). I just preferred the sound of the 2x12 over the 1x12. A...

How Do You Position Your Amp (LSS 410) From The Wall?

Out of curiosity, what speakers come in the 4x10" combo? All Jensen's, or two each of the Jensen and Eminence?

    I Want It All Dammit!

You basically need to build a room inside a room. Don't forget to add the flooring, and all of it needs an air gap. It can be done...My brother did just this when he was in an apartment. THEN sound proof the inside of that room. But holy cow, the RK is still a 100+W amp. That's gonna be...

    popping fuses...why?

I think the rectifier tubes are still connected to the power supply even if you're using diodes. If they are bad (esp a short) they can draw a lot of current from the power supply. (there is another thread on this happening that I read this morning.) this might have something to do with you...

Which Boogie product is Class A and 50 Watts?

I think you're improperly mixing a conversation about "single-ended vs. push-pull configuration" with "class A vs. class A/B". they are different issues. An amp that is designed for the power tubes to run in class A can be built as single-ended *or* push-pull. The LSS does BOTH. single-ended...

Need Help, Lone Star Special 112 or 212?

I tried both and bought the 2x12". The reason was that I wanted to move the amount of air I could get from the 2x12". The sound is a bit different (it was a "fuller" sound to me) as you'll get some freq cancellation (as you will with any multi-speaker setup). As one mentioned above, several...

    Understanding gain...

I'm still trying to get past the example of two pedals at 25% cut each being the same as 1 at 0% cut (or 100% "on"), the other at 50%. It's not the same. The first situation would yield a 100% signal getting cut to 75% via pedal #1, then that signal getting cut another 25% via pedal #2 for an...

    LSS or Express 5:25

The one that sounds better. :D I have the LSS and have not played the 5:25, so I cannot comment on the differences. But I sure love the LSS. Obviously the 5:25 is cheaper, so it's a win there if you like the 5:25 sound. Try them both and let your ears make the call.

    Lonestar Special 1x12 vs 2x12?

Living in Portland, OR now. Nope, not playing SXSW, just taking in the sights/sounds. I'll play with a few friends that live in the area while i'm down there though. One buddy has a pretty nice studio and tons of gear. Makes it easy to get my fix.

    Lonestar Special 1x12 vs 2x12?

rabidinus, where are you shopping in Austin? Curious as I used to live there (and my brother still does). Heading into town for SXSW this year. :D

    Just Got My LSS

Congrats on the new LSS! I have the 2x12" and love it. I was out Sat night to listen to John Hammond. My neighbor tagged along. We happened to run into the guy running sound at the concert venue and got to talking about recording. My neighbor mentions he can hear me playing at night. And...

    Lonestar Special 1x12 vs 2x12?

I thought about this same thing...and ended up with a 2x12. Any 1x12 is going to seem more focused as you're not going to hear any of the freq cancellation you get with multiple speakers. That said, the 2x12 for me was a much fuller sound. I'm extremely happy with it. I debated getting a...

    love my lone star special...But

Yep, the 2x12 is a beast for sure. Luckily i don't have to move mine very often. I thought VERY hard about your setup with the 1x12 on top of a 1x12 cab as well. In the end i couldn't pass up the deal I got on the used 2x12. :)

    love my lone star special...But

I have the 2x12. For me, yes, gave a bit more bass. And clearly moves more air, which I like/need in general anyway. you can hear some of the freq cancellation as with any multi-speaker setup. So I suppose it just depends on your needs. Not sure I'd trade out the 1x12 for it, unless you...

Nice. What are you LSS settings for this?

    LSS footswitch oddness... Help!

yep, that's right. gotta be a stereo cable. it's either the cable, or one of your jacks (amp or footswitch) is shot. given that you can get it to intermittently connect while fiddling with the amp jack, that's likely the one if it's not the cable.

    Dealers can discount Mesa's ???

Hi, that was one of the blue tolex Lonestars correct? I think the Lonestar is still in production, just in black now. True?

Tubes: Mesa vs. JJ from eurotubes?

You said, "im sure eurotubes and dougstubes are great, but I am cheap, and I'd rather feel like I am dealing with a company rather that some schmo who bought a sh!t load of tubes and set up a website" you're saying you're sure he's great, but you don't want to deal with a schmo? What? Have...
