    New Mark V owner

I stand corrected, you'd think I would have caught that owning a JP6 myself! I agree with you, I like the Mark IV mode better than the IIc+ mode. I can't seem to get the IIc+ mode to get the bass response I'm looking for. I was looking for a Mark IV when the V came out, so I just opted to get...

4x12 Cab question for you guys??

I've seen some dude do that on YouTube with his Marshall cabs and he swears by it! I may just try this, want to crank my amp up good when I get a chance just to be sure the issue is gone before I do a mod like this. I've been tempted to do this for awhile, may just be the perfect time! Thanks man!

4x12 Cab question for you guys??

Hey all, I noticed in the last couple of weeks that my Recto cab was getting a little flubby at just some low frequencies. It was really starting to annoy me, so I opened it up to investigate. The speakers were nice and tight as was the support cross-member inside. I did notice that the back...

    Running a 2nd EQ

I have an MXR 10 band in my loop, I use it just to fool around and see what sounds I can drum up. Most of the time I bypass it, but occasionally I fire it up to get that ultra-scooped metal tone. Mostly just for fun for me, but I see nothing wrong with doing whatever the hell you want to do with...

    Styles of Music U play w/Mark V?

I play mostly heavy rock, but this amp does everything well. Love Ch.3/Mark IV!

Congratulations! Let the search for your "Brown" sound begin!

The long screw in the center of the chassis??

Vibration for sure. My Express I used to own would get all microphonic at loud volumes. Took it to an authorized repair shop, guy tightened that bad boy and the problem disappeared.

How useful is the 10w setting on the Mk V

This is a good observation. The answer is, not as bad as the Express. I did not like 5W mode on my 5:50 because it had no bass response. It is WAY better on the Mark V, sounds great. I just said this on another thread, but is worth repeating. I think this amp sounds great at low volume in all...

    '86 Bay Area Thrash

It's probably just me, but I just can't get the IIc+ to sound just the way I want it. It just sounds too thin and fragile to me. If anyone has some suggestions, please fill me in. I think the Mark IV setting sounds much more full and ballsy.

The 'Variac' setting is just fantastic!!!

I too have converted to the Variac power setting. SPONGY BABY!!!

My band's myspace, all songs recorded with MarkV

Not 100% my style, but sounds great and you guys obviously have 'da skillz! Nice work and good luck!

Mark V vs. Road King II

This is SO true. I had a Recto and it was all but useless to me unless it was cranked up. The Mark V sounds AWESOME at lower volumes, even in 90W mode.

Mark V through an Avatar cab?

I ran a traditional 2x12 w/V30's with my old Express 5:50. I loved the cabinet, allot of bang for the buck! Their customer service is exceptional as well.
  17. S

What power settings you guys using?

After reading everyone's preferences, I have switched over to 90W/variac and I freaking love it! Just another fine example of how you can keep discovering new sounds with this amp!

Help!! I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH TOO MUCH ICE PICK TREBLE

Seems like with your treble settings/EQ settings that low, you should be fine. Traditionally, with high gain you should keep the treble below 2 o'clock and you are lower than that by far. I'm a little puzzled myself, maybe someone a little more knowledgeable will chime in. I put the SED tubes in...
