Bought used, didn't get a manual :( So its safe to run lower, into higher? Say I run 4 ohms out of the amp into the 8 ohm on my cab, this is safe correct?

Oh Duh, sorry 'bout that. They're both Mesa Rectifier cabs, and I believe they're both rated for 8ohms mono. Makes enough sense to simply run them both at 8 seeing as how they put two 8 ohm outs on the amp, I just know nothing of ohms and what not and don't know if there is some kind of voodoo...

I recently acquired a 2x12 and would like to run it in conjunction with my 4x12. Can I run them both at 8ohm seeing as how the Triple Rec has 2 8ohm outs?

I tried the Vintage mode of channels 2 & 3 over the weekend (For the first time since I got the amp believe it or not). Pleasantly surprised actually. The bass control is much softer in these modes. You can crank the bass control up a bit without ever going into the subsonic area of the modern...

I tried 12 recently and it seems to have opened up the sound a bit. Still tight, but a bit more airey. I'll fiddle I suppose :)

Mesa claims that because they are smaller, they produce tighter bass response and more articulation. I get a lot of thud and "thwump" from my recto cabinet, kind of like jumbled/garbled bass. A better way to say it might be: I believe my tone would benefit from tightening up the bass response :)

Has anyone paired one of these cabs up to a recto? If so, results? I looked around briefly on the Mesa site and found that these produce a more articulate attack.

Thanx for the responses guys :) I've been running the amp in Silicon Diode mode, does this completely bypass the rectifier tubes? Really :shock: I thought they would be the first things to go? With this you mean replacing all the tubes, or simply the power tubes as you suggested?

Bunch of questions... First, do I need a re-tube? My amp is roughly 4-5 years old and has never been opened up. Pretty decent usage throughout its life, no failures, but the tone doesn't seem to be cutting it lately. Second, the cabinet I'm running (A recto 4x12) is even older than the amp...
