    Mark V 35 Tone

Nick (he said "V35"... ) I hear you though. I have a V25 and a V and am always trying to get the tones in one that I got in the other. OP, congrats on the V35. What a COOL amp that must be!

New Mini Rec owner, wow, mega impressed. Now gigged.

Yeah, clean headroom-wise, it's not going to run with an F50. Those things get LOUD LOUD for a 1x12 combo!!!

New Mini Rec owner, wow, mega impressed. Now gigged.

It should sound good with that cab. I like Eminence Governors better than regular V30s. They sound closer to the Mesa V30s, with about a 3dB reduction of the ice pick spike the regular V30s have. A 2x12 Mesa Vertical sounds GREAT with that amp (I have the amp and the cab). But the cab you...

Mark V owner review of JP-2C (multi page post)

Interesting. I spent months on 45 watt Variac mode. Last few weeks I've switched a lot between 45V, 45F, 90V and 90F. And I've settled lately on full power at 90 watts. Like all of them, but they all sound different and lately 90 watts full power has been working for me.

Drive pedal in effects loop of Road King

Drive pedals don't go in the loop, they go in front. Unless you plug the guitar into the pedal and use IT as the pre-amp, you don't put drive pedals in the loop. In fact, if you're having trouble dialing in good tones on a Road King, the first thing I'd do is unplug EVERYTHING else from the...

Mark V owner review of JP-2C (multi page post)

Nice to hear that it works well with the Mark V. Hopefully it would work as well with the MV25.

Did everyone see the New Triple Crown?

If they do a smaller, multi-watt, I REALLY hope it's 5/15/25 like the TA15 was, because the 5 watt SE Class A setting was GREAT for lower volume home playing, and all three modes had significantly different feel and tone and all were great. I find that with my Mini Rec and V25 I almost never...

Interested to hear more thoughts on the Grid Slammer as you get to check it out with your other amps.

    Mark V Again

You're going to force me to try it. I've spend the last two weeks running the channel/master controls the opposite way that I had previously heard was the best way. Lately, instead of channel volumes up at least to 12:00 and Volume to taste (10:00 or so) I've been running Master at noon and...

New Mesa EL-34 amp - Triple Crown TC-50 Now Official!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since I kind of like having your around, I figured I'd better share my medical expertise. I think you had probably only better plan on selling ONE of those kidneys. Better sell it while they're still worth something.

New Mesa EL-34 amp - Triple Crown TC-50 Now Official!

I got notice and link to a demo video for this new amp yesterday. Watched the full MESA video demo last night. It looks and sounds really good!

    Dual Rectifier HISTORY...

What's up with "reborn" Rectos? And, when looking at the mass of used ones available, how can one tell versions visually? I look at Rectos used on ebay other places, and I dont know if I'm looking at a 2 year old amp, or a 20 year old amp. Are there visual identifiers for the newer ones?

    Mesa Brit Evolution?

I heard that OVER two years ago. I waited for months and months. I think the success of the Mark V25 and then Mark V35 got them side tracked.

Small percolating noises from my TA15

+1. When I've had a tube fail slowly, that was decent description of what happened to my tone. Or, if we were in Hawaii, I'd say, "Bubble, tiny bubbles..."

Megadeth Festival = No amps anywhere for ALL bands!!!

I went to see Gigantour a few years ago. GIGANTIC sound system, WAY WAY WAY too loud to get anywhere near. We started with Dream Theater playing and we were 5 feet from stage. I had no ear plugs with me and immediately almost ran out to the side and first tried about 30 feet back, then settled...

Pop, snap, odd sounds then works fine.

I'm trying it. So far so good, but... as with the discussion about the loop on vs off... you have to VERY carefully balance the volume each way before you can really tell if one way is better than the other. If you don't get them EXACTLY the same, the louder way will almost always sound...
