Small percolating noises from my TA15

Howdy all

I just went thru a Mesa factory repair for a bad cap on my Express 525, now my TA15 is making light background percolating noises (random sizzle, scratching etc). Not very dramatic but certainly not what I'd call quiet background hum. Now what? Failing preamp tube somewhere?

That would be my first assumption. Preamp tube. I would at least roll in a new tube starting at the beginning of the chain. EL-84 power tubes can do this too but not as common as a preamp tube. Hopefully that is all it is.

+1. When I've had a tube fail slowly, that was decent description of what happened to my tone.

Or, if we were in Hawaii, I'd say, "Bubble, tiny bubbles..." :mrgreen:

Tubes are awful creatures. None of us would use them if they didn't sound and feel so freakin' awesome.

Always carry spares.
