Mesa Brit Evolution?

Can someone in the know give me the 411 on the Stiletto, Electra Dyne, and Trans Atlantic Series?

How similar are they? Why did the Stiletto go away? Same with the other two.

Just curious to hear what has gone on with Mesa as the try to lay claim to Brit tone..

They're not similar at all.

The Stiletto is bright, narrow and cutting.

The Electra Dyne is darker, fatter and fills up a lot of space.

Never played a Trans Atlantic, but from what I've read its in the AC30 camp.

I don't know Mesa's sales figures, but as best as I can tell the Stiletto was never all that popular. It wasn't Marshall enough for the Marshall crowd to fully embrace it, and it wasn't Mesa enough for the Mesa crowd to fully embrace it.

Brit flavoured amps is a tough market because everyone and their dog makes a Marshall, and variations on the AC30 are big on the boutique side.

Screamingdaisy is right on the money.

One thing left out, Trans Atlantic Series also included the Royal Atlantic. A bit more aggressive than the Stiletto Deuce Stage I, and voiced quite differently as well. A spin off from the Electra Dyne but without Simul-Class power amp.

From the Trans Atlantic Series, Not sure why the Royal Atlantic is part of it as it is not an EL84 based amp but if you search for the RA it is included in the Trans Atlantic series.

Demo of the Grid slammer used the RA100 on the Lo gain channel. One of my favorite amps (actually have two of them).

Stiletto Series: I had bought a used Stiletto Deuce stage 1, played it for about one week. Traded it in for an RA100 Combo. Compared the Deuce to the RA100 Head, RA100 was much better in my opinion. However, the ACE really sounds good and probably would have like that over the Deuce. No video's on Mesa site. I am sure there are plenty on the ACE, Deuce, or Trident on youtube.

Agree with all the responses.

RA100 and Electradyne are all in the Atlantic series because they are supposed to be Brit.

Mesa succeeded in marrying a real clean channel (a-la Lone Star) with a Marshall-y dirt channel on all these amps. They are great amps with great tones. Not much financial success, though, I would guess. There is TONS of competition in that space, including the original Marshalls and Voxs, plus the new products from those companies. Plus Bogner, PRS, Soldano, Orange, Laney, Randall, Blackstar, etc.

They will have to pry my Electradyne from my cold, dead hands. But most people who wanted a better plexi/JCM800 went a different way. There are vids I have seen with RA100 and Electradyne sounding very convincing next to a JCM800. But most people will argue that if you want JCM800, buy a JCM800.

I'm happy to see Mesa focusing on what they do best, which is the Marks and Rectos.

I've owned all three. They're all great amps, and all do different things. Of the three, the most useable is the TA-15/TA-30.

I heard that OVER two years ago. I waited for months and months. I think the success of the Mark V25 and then Mark V35 got them side tracked.

Not to mention the JP-2C in the mix. Lots of great amps coming out of Mesa over the years. It is really tough to find a favorite out of the bunch as each has their own qualities that make them unique. I am looking forward to the next set of amps that may emerge from the tone farm. Not sure if or when another British voiced amp will come out, and when it does I hope I have some disposable cash on hand to buy one. At the moment my amp/guitar fund has dried up and was pumped into an acoustic drum kit, still need to get mic's and other recording gear for the drum kit so funds will be minimal at best for something new.

Stage Is and stage IIs are not the same. I've A/Bed both, and whilst the differences are not day and night, I still prefer the voicing of stage II. The Ace would be like the stage II voicing
