    Mesa Rectifier LDRs vs. Relays

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with most of what you've posted here. Some of your comments are factually on level with the debates concerning tubes/transistors and pcb/turret builds. To answer the specific question asked in the first post, the switching diagram with relays that...

Cheapest price you paid 4 gear

I got my MKIII for around 300 dollars from a pawn shop because someone had stolen the tubes and the Lead Gain knob was broken. I had spare tubes and a call to Mesa plus 15 dollars later the knob was fixed. My Dual rectifier rack cost 400 dollars from the Plano Guitar Center because it...

How much would you trade an MP-1 for?

Want Pre500 tone? Here's how to get it!

If anyone wants help figuring out what needs to be done to a three channel recto and lives in the Minneapolis area I could help. Of if someone wanted to send me photo's of the area around the tube sockets for V1, V2, and V3 and then do some simple probing to figure out the specifics we can do...

    single wrecked

You could call Mesa and e-mail your pictures. They may be willing to sell you the whole board populated as it is a pretty unremarkable part of the amp. There are no trade secrets or anything worth copying on that board.

WTB - 2 channel Rectifier Chassis from damaged rectifier.

Yea, I actually have one of those from Disturbed. They are all for the three channel rectifiers which is not what I'm working on. It needs to be a two channel chassis. Mesa can replace the PCB board of a three channel board if they need to.

WTB - 2 channel Rectifier Chassis from damaged rectifier.

If anyone has a two channel rectifier chassis for a damaged rectifier I would be interested in buying it. I'm working on a replacement PCB for amplifiers that have had the boards damaged beyond repair but I need the chassis to ensure I've got everything spaced properly.

Solo jump on old 2-channel recto?

You could re-wire the master control with a dual pot and the electronics of the three channel's solo function but I wouldn't encourage it. It would be a lot of effort for something that can be done simply using a boost pedal in the loop.

Want Pre500 tone? Here's how to get it!

You don't want to remove that, it is part of the phase inverter of your amp and is essential for the power amp to work properly. Likewise changing that part is not going to change to tone. That resistor was moved from another place on the earlier amps. I don't know from where through. They...

Want Pre500 tone? Here's how to get it!

I'm sorry my reply took so long to get to you. I was looking through my pictures to see if I could find a good one of the RevC PCB board. I at one time saw a schematic of the RevC amps but I can't seem to find it again. These are the best I can give you. The first picture is the RevC...

Want Pre500 tone? Here's how to get it!

Ok, I've got to chime in with some real knowledge here. This is not a "Pre-500" mod. This is a tone changing mod. There were a lot of changes between the Rev.C and Rev.D dual rectifiers. From the Rev.D to G boards the changes were more incremental and were intended to make the amp more...

    Mini Rectifier Channel Modification

Can you provide us with a photo of the inside of the amp? That would help get an idea of how much space is available and the general layout.

    Triaxis Midi program change

I have the same problem when I use my Line 6 vetta, it can get many great tones if you want it to, but I find myself using only two or three. On the triaxis I only use 4 main patches.

Mesa Dual/Triple Rectifier vs. Framus Dragon

Although there are many other changes two things you could do to a stock dual rectifier to get it closer to a dragon would be to switch the coupling capcitor coming off the first gain stage. Mesa uses a 0.022uF cap in that position while Framus uses a 0.047uF cap in the same position. Also...

    Triple Rectifier 2 channels

The PCB's and components of the triple and dual rectifiers are identical. The only difference is the addition of the two power tubes and the single rectifier tube. Everything else is the same. I have both and I promise that. So find the pictures that focus on the areas you have questions...

mark iii coliseum, cap seems to be missing, tech help needed

That is one of the filtering capacitors for the EQ section. It's purpose is to smooth the voltage that powers that section. I'd assume that at some point mesa decided that adding an extra capacitor there didn't serve a useful function. Generally speaking good electrical design requires a...

2:90 and two outs to one Cab

When there is no signal going into the poweramp the poweramp is producing very little current. When there is some signal going into the amp then the power tubes start producing current, and that current needs to go somewhere, usually the speakers. The amp does produce a little idle current...

Question about OD pedal in front of amp

Without getting super technical if you know someone good with a soldering iron you could use the switches on the FCB to control a relay to bypass the pedal. Your looking at about 20 dollars in parts plus a case of beer.

Reducing the Wattage of my Trem-O-Verb?

The part about switching which impedance jack you plug into should take care of any matching issues which is the biggest concern with pulling tubes. You can do this without much concern for damaging the amp as long as you take the impedance into consideration.
