    new to the mark v

Marks DO NOT NEED a Tubescreamer. Rectifiers definitely need a boost, but not a Mark. A boost just tricks you into thinking you have sharper pick attack (its a lie) when in fact it's just adding noise to your signal. It also dampens the growl, makes the amp less raw. Petrucci doesn't always use...

Help routing effects with a dual rectifier...

How would an ABY switch turn his effects on/off when channel switching?

Help routing effects with a dual rectifier...

Yes this is possible without having to buy an external switcher. Just set the loop assign knob on the back to Channel 2 or 3. That means the loop is only active on that channel. If you switch to channel 1 (clean) your FX are essentially switched off because the loop is bypassed. Edit: I just...

Mark V - One Simple Question

Channel 2 will sorta do it with a clean boost and maybe a frownie face'd EQ pedal up front.

Tell me about James Hetfield's use of the Triple Rectifier

No offense but I've never understood why someone would ask about Kirk Hammet's tone. He plays zero of the rhythm tracks that Metallica is known for... he only plays the leads. His lead tone is easy peazy. Lots of gain and reverb and wah.

What's a DC? Ten words or less.

You guys were getting Recto gain out of your DC's?!?!? My DC-2 sounded more Markish. Like a Mark IV with a bad cold. Is the DC-2 the black sheep of the series?

    Making the Mark IV Brutal

How easy was it to swap the combo into a head?

What's a DC? Ten words or less.

The DC-2 sounded like crap and wouldn't cut through a mix. There, right at 10 words.

What's the power outlet on the back of the Mark IV for?

I have a Voodoo Pedal Power 2 Plus. Would this cause extra noise if I plug it into the amp?

New Amp Day: Mesa Mark IV

$650? Damn - I payed $1,200 for this Mark IV.

What's the power outlet on the back of the Mark IV for?

On the back of the head there's a 3 prong electrical outlet. What's it there for? Can I plug my pedal power supply into it? Cain I plug another head into it?

Does Mesa still sell new Mark IV head shells?

I called and left a message with customer service this morning and never received a call back. So I called Mesa Hollywood and was quoted a price over the phone. Does it matter which place I order it from? Direct vs Mesa Hollywood?

Cover of Lorde's "Royals" on Solo Acoustic into a Mini Rec

Did she write that song? It's so different sounding that mainstream pop.

Dialing a Mark V lead channel to Mark IV

I have both. I think the V sounds better at low volumes but the V needs to be in 90 watts to match the raw aggression of th IV. The ceans and crunch are way way better on the V. Playing them both in stereo sounds better than either amp alone, way better.

Does Mesa still sell new Mark IV head shells?

Interesting. Once I hear back from Mesa with a Yes or No I'll know how to proceed.

New Amp Day: Mesa Mark IV

I was bad. Really bad. I was supposed to be out Christmas shopping for my wife over the weekend. Traffic was utterly horrendous so I decided to stop by the local Fender shop to see if they had anything cool before I made my way to the mall. So I walk in and make my way to the amp room and there...

Cover of Lorde's "Royals" on Solo Acoustic into a Mini Rec

Interesting. I don't normally listen to pop music but that song has caught my hear on the radio lately. It's a very interesting/cleverly written song.

Can a G Major 2 be used in 2 loops? Mark IV and V in stereo.

It's being split with a TC Flashback pedal that has stereo outs into the front of each amp. I have a ground lift on one of the amps to eliminate hum. Would using both amps FX loops into the G Major result in stereo effects? Would it be dual mono?

Can a G Major 2 be used in 2 loops? Mark IV and V in stereo.

Let's say I have 2 standalone combo amps, Mark IV and V, each with a series FX loop. The G Major 2 has a Left send/return and a Right send/return. Can I run amp IV to the left side of the G Major and amp V to the right side and get a stereo setup? I know people run stereo with stereo poweramps...
