    tone cheat sheet?

Actually to hell with it. I contacted Mesa and discussed the issue with them. They are sending me one for my amp. :D

    tone cheat sheet?

Sorry, I do not see this. Can you point me to the page? I only see suggested tone settings and a parts list. Other comments suggest that it has a back panel layout which helps when accessing the rear controls without having to move the amp around.

    FX loop tone degradation

Not sure if this helps but I am using a Boss DD-2 delay with no issues. Maybe you could try a different brand of delay? Do your friends have something you could borrow to try out? Also what is your level set at on the loop? I have mine at 12 O'clock. No issues. Also I am using very short...

    Static issue?

Aha! Found my answer in the Rectifier section. It is static. http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=38700

    Static issue?

No, all channels are on 90w. It doesn't have to be any particular channel. Simply engaging the FX loop from the footswitch can cause a pop. The thing is is that from the footswitch whatever is first engaged after initial power up is what causes the pop. After that nothing until the next time the...

    Static issue?

For my case when the amp is first turned on if I engage any switch on the footswitch, whether it be FX, EQ, Rev, 1, etc... I get a pop. But then that is all. So I have made it a habit when I first turn the amp on to just randomly step on the switches. After doing that I am good for the entire...

Mark V issues....majority in Head or Combo?

Would also be interested in the serial numbers to see if the issues are happening in a particular range.

    Mark V Cleans

I am able to get pristine cleans with no issues. In fat mode, gain 12 as in O'clock treble 1 mids 10 bass 12 presence 10 channel volume 10 toggle switch normal 90W When running loud I do find that I have to crank the channel volume up further than my other channels but to me that is normal. Oh...

    What Difference Does Solder Make?

Without the lead the solder tends to whisker. I do not know how big a deal it is for amps but for components that are very, very close together it can be a very big deal due to shorts. Here is a brief write up with a picture of the whiskers...

    sweeping generalizations

Great replies! I don't think anyone truly minds when someone posts their honest opinion of the amp. I believe it is important to hear the negatives as well as the positive. This way one can get a more balanced, honest review and also it makes it easier to spot patterns which could point to a...

    sweeping generalizations

Ok, so far on this board we have had some members with true issues with the amp that forced it to go back for repairs. Not making light of those with issues. I truely sympathize. But how many is this out of people with no issues at all? I guess what I am getting at is that the amp is obviously...

Mark V just not popular with older people?

My opinion? Hype. Marketing in their effort to sell more units hype it up. Promising sounds based on past successes, which can sometimes backfire. For me this is the amp I have been waiting for. Still waiting for actually. I have been fortunate enough to find a combo to test drive, luv it, but...

Mark V just not popular with older people?

Wrong. At least in my case. I'm 41. :D

    That's great to hear!

MKV lettering rubbing off on faceplate

 Instead of getting this Mark V maybe I should just wait for the Mark V version G - 6 C+++ - Mk29 1/3rd and a half with cup holder and chartreuse stripe. Back on topic though, when they offered to repaint the amp did they offer to pay for shipping both ways?

MKV lettering rubbing off on faceplate

I think it's kind of humorous. All this talk about early adopters. These days amps are being swapped out almost as regularly as if they were computers. I kinda remember back in the day that your main amp was your main amp. Didn't like something about it? Well that is what pedals were...

So.... Moving on.... Any word from Mesa yet?

MKV lettering rubbing off on faceplate

I wonder if they didn't rinse the chassis properly before applying the silk screen. That sucks. Let us know how Mesa responds. I just put money down on a head and am currently waiting. No way that should be put up with after dropping that kind of money.

    Tubes Glowing Blue

Yeah that happened when I owned an F-50. I flipped out and called Mesa right away. They assured me it was normal.
