Has anyone seen this above the powercord of the II or III? It doesn't look like a plus but could be considered an off-center one... the serial number on the Mark is 153xx or 159xx, apparently with the last digit scratched off and an "R" written in. This would put it in black dot range, or an extremely late IIC+.

I have not. The ones I have seen have been very purposed. Odd to me that it would be off kilter for the importance it bears.

I would get it carbon dated. It may have just went on before the sale. haha

Seriously:
Great Question. I really think it's worth getting the question off to Mike B.

Looks like a black dot above the power cable. The amp is out of the chassis in that photo so it would have been better to get a photo of the circuit board.

It is rackmounted. I will be trying to get some photos today, but I am intrigued by the X.

Copied from the "Boogie Files - Dot History" without permission. :D

"#1 - No mark or a little dot. Only a few hundred then some black marks or "+"'s .
- Lean and powerful amp with more output power than a IIC+"
