I'd prefer a widebody combo but I'd also consider the long head...

I'm not looking to steal someone's old beater amp. I'll pay the going price for a clean example in minty condition. If it's the combo it's gotta have the C90 Black Shadow speaker, the footboard, casters and amp cover. Same deal for the head...minus the speaker and casters.

Not interested in either the compact combo or the short head.

I've been looking all over e-bay and craigslist and so far I've struck out. Then it hit me that this might be just the place!

Also, one question about the Mark IVs...

The new widebody combo I recently played had a cooling fan inside the cabinet, pointing up at the power tubes. From the pics I've seen of the Mark IV solo heads the cooling fan is absent. Is this simply a model year difference or are the widebody combos the only version of the Mark IV to get the cooling fan?

My short head has always had the cooling fan. I had to make one for the combo cabinet that I bought.

Thanks for the info. Hmmm, I wonder then why the fan was missing in some of the other Mark IV heads I've seen? Is it model year dependent?

It isn't absolutely necessary is why. The combo has more air moving around anyway. The head on the other hand is a preference thing. Some might use an alternate fan to blow air into the back of the amp. Realistically the amp shouldn't even need the fan though but it is something that Mesa thought they would equip the amp with to help the cooling of the short head. This may be why it might be carried over to a medium chassis as well. For a combo though there should really be no reason to have the fan. The fan mounts way down towards the bottom in the combo cabinet. The effect of having that little fan is reduced because it is so far away.
