I have a 1960B (75 watt speakers @ 300 watts total) Marshall. Sounds great used as stereo into my two Tremoverbs.
Now I am thinking of using it for one Tremoverb and adding another 4x12 for the other Tremoverb.
I am wondering what you guys think.
Should I get another Marshall 1960B?
Or, should I get two Stilleto cabs?
Or, should I get two Rectifier cabs?
I want shimmering cleans.
I want percussive, articulate, tight lows, a lot of it but not too much if you know what I mean.
I don't want uncontrollable crushing lows or metal or smashing sound.
For years I tried to get my Tremoverb combos to get that sound I was looking for and then I plugged them into the Marshall 4x12 and my heart stopped.
Now I realize the whole thing about the open back combo sound that is clean and dynamic, wide and spacial...sounds great, but not for everything.
By adding the Marshall 4x12 I was able to add the missing piece, which was the pounding low end.
Now that I have found it I can't live without it, so I just want to do it right.
What are your recommendations and why.
My influences are Nuno Bettencourt, Greg Howe, Andy Timmons and Steve Vai, although I play nothing like them (I am just a hack), but have pipe dreams...LOL
I realize that the sound coming off the CD could be any combination of equipment and engineering and more times than not the actual artist's playing style, but I am just trying to give you as much information as I can to help you to understand what I am looking for.
Thanks all.
