Hi,

I received my '85 IIC+ a couple of days ago, and I want to replace the filter caps. However, I really know very little about electronics, so could someone here tell me which ones I'll have to replace?

Anyone?

(sorry for hijacking)

I replaced my filter caps and did an A/B. Here's a link to the thread: http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?p=95817#95817

I live in Poland so I can buy 220uF @ 350V, 33uF @ 500V from www.tubeampdoctor.com (Germany) but I think it's a better and chepaer idea to buy 220uF/400V and 33uF/500V Rubycons in my country. Capacitors are smaller nowadays and I think 220uF/400V is smaller than 25years old 220uF/285V in my Boogie.

If those fit in your amp they would be fine.Cant speak on the quality,I am not familiar with those brands, but dont go for something because it is cheaper when buying caps, get the best quality you can.You should be able to get F&T's in Eur.,no?

I bought those and put them in my simul class, they work fine, the amp sounds a lot better, but I can't compare them to the sprague/F&T since I haven't tried them.
The 220uF/350V is Eur 4.95 , and the 33uF is Eur 3.99 at tubeampdoctor.
The F&T 220uF/300v is $10.95 and the Sprague 30uF is $5.75.
So the Sprague is priced the same, and the F&T is more expensive.
Any thoughts?
