i need a good relatively cheap practice amp with chimey cleans and brutal distortion..i'm looking for something in between 20 and 50 watts with an FX LOOP. I prefer tube amps but since i live in an apartment they're kind of out of the question. I've heard solid state sounds good at low volumes.

i really like the vox AD and Roland cube, but i'm frustrated cuz they don't have an fx loop!!! any recommendations?

tech 21's Trademark series are great little practice amps that have effects loops. if they're more than what you want to spend, check 'em out used on ebay. i'd say they have "lots" of distortion. brutal distortion? maybe. "brutal" is a bit of a subjective term so...

well...express is a little out of my price range at the moment...but i would love to have one...

tech 21..i checked it out..the cleans sound phenomenal, but i've read that the distortion doesn't have much gain and is kind of muddy...but then again, i'd like to hear your take on this amp.
any other recommendations?

the AD100VT has a loop. i use this as my practice amp at home as well because with the variable wattage dial, i can tone it down to a nice bedroom volume. i'm quite fond of it.
