I've owned a few different pedals.. Looking to get one again.. I don't want something that sucks tone, I want the 'proper' impedance for a loop!

For the loop you need a low impedance pedal, like the 25K Ernie Ball 6181 or the Morley Little Alligator.

I use a Hilton volume pedal. I've had several pedals over the years and the Hilton is the best hands down.

On my most important amps I run a Line 6 POD HD500(or X) on the FX Loop for effects that belong on the loop.
No amp modeling and no preamp type effects.
On every other amp I run a DigiTech RP360XP on the FX Loop for effects that belong on the loop.
No amp modeling and no preamp type effects.
Both of those units have a Volume pedal that I use for Solo Boosts.
I never "juice" the output. I go around 75%/80% for rhythm and 100% for solos.

Mark Five 1X12 Combo (on top of a Mesa Vertical 2X12), Mark Five Head and Mesa Vertical 2X12, Marshall JVM410 and Marshall 2X12 loaded with one V30 and one G12-K100, Marshall DSL100H and 4X12. Marshall DSL100HR and 4X12 loaded with two V30s and two G12-K100s, three Marshall DSL40CR 1X12 combos (one of them on top of a Marshall1966A Vertical 2X12 cab), Marshall DSL20CR loaded with a C30 (on top of a Marshall MX112 extension cab loaded with a V-Type), Blackstar HT Club 40 1X12 combo (on top of a Blackstar 1X12 extension cab), Fender EVH 5150III 1X12 Combo and EVH 5150III 1X12 extension cab loaded with a Creamback 65.

Fractal FM3 (with Fractal Expression Pedal) in 4 or 5 cable mode depending in the amp
No amp sims, just FX
I mostly build very simple presets with 8 “Scenes” that fit with everything I need at the time

OD’s & Wah in front of the amp
Time based FX and volume pedal in the loop
I got a Lehle volume pedal, has a boost. Seems to do the trick.

I use two: 1. an Ernie Ball volume to adjust set and forget playing volume and 2. A jhs 2dB boost purely for solo
I connect both before the H9 so that delay tails are maintained when dealing down volume .. it’s a great effect
