I've owned a few different pedals.. Looking to get one again.. I don't want something that sucks tone, I want the 'proper' impedance for a loop!

For the loop you need a low impedance pedal, like the 25K Ernie Ball 6181 or the Morley Little Alligator.

I use a Hilton volume pedal. I've had several pedals over the years and the Hilton is the best hands down.

On my most important amps I run a Line 6 POD HD500(or X) on the FX Loop for effects that belong on the loop.
No amp modeling and no preamp type effects.
On every other amp I run a DigiTech RP360XP on the FX Loop for effects that belong on the loop.
No amp modeling and no preamp type effects.
Both of those units have a Volume pedal that I use for Solo Boosts.
I never "juice" the output. I go around 75%/80% for rhythm and 100% for solos.
