Did anyone catch VH-1s thing tonight?

It was Queen, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, and Kiss. They had some bands do a couple covers prior to the real bands coming out but it was pretty cool.

Brian May is one hell of a guitarist. I really like his tone though I can't bear to look at his guitar. Paul Rodgers makes Queen sound like a more mature band.

KK and Glenn are still the masters of metal. Halford's voice was so-so.

Joe Elliot has lost his range and doesn't even try anymore. Phil Collen has really improved as a lead player since the 90's. Vivian Campbell was sounding pretty fat through his LP too.

Although Ace came out with the alternate line up doing the cover, I think it was Joe Perry playing in Ace's makeup. Also the cat didn't look much like Peter Criss.

The cover bands weren't that great even though Foo Fighters covered Queen. The last line up that covered Kiss again had Ace playing lead. Slash was playing lead too. In addition to this Scott Ian was playing Bass of all things and Tommy Lee was playing drums though he didn't even attempt the God of Thunder drum solo. Gilby Clarke played rhythm for Slash and Ace. I also can't believe what Rob Zombie did with the song. I actually liked it better than the real deal with Rob being a spazz.

Godsmack did the covers for Judas Priest. It was kinda neat to hear them play some real metal. I was digging the Diezel and Splawn amps that they were using too. I didn't care for the vocals though because he couldn't hit Rob's highs.

Oh, hey, they are replaying it too...

No offense, but you must not get out very much....

Since 2002, Tommy Thayer, formerly of Black and Blue, has been wearing the Space Ace makeup and performing with Kiss. And after finishing the Kiss Symphony sessions, Peter Criss left for good. His position belongs to Eric Singer once again.

I just haven't followed Kiss too closely in the last 10 years. Last I heard it was the original lineup. I wonder why Ace played in the allstar band not with Kiss...
