How could I turn this briefcase into a pedalboard? I need to make the top detachable first and foremost. I can strip the foam out of the bottom fairly easily if I had to guess. If it is possible then I will be buying it from a friend.

Here's the briefcase's hinges:

Any ideas?

plan a design...measuring tape, marker, dremel/handpeice with cutoff disc, file the rough edges for smoothness.....no problem...

With the cutting disc, you can also cut away the shape of that foam, did it on my gun case works like a charm...

nice. i actually had the idea to build one from an old suitcase but i've since altered my plans to make one from an old square guitar case instead. the only problem i think would be finding a case with enough clearance for all my pedals.

I've changed my mind on this idea. For those interested here's the eBay link to it:

It's the largest aluminum briefcase i've seen and 5 inches should be enough clearance after you strip the foam out of the bottom...
