Hello there!

I happen to have a few tubes lying around.
1 x Ruby/JJ 12AX7 High Grade
1 x Ruby/JJ 12AX7 High Grade +
1 x Tung Sol 12AX7

I'd like to experiment, but don't want to do ALL the trial and error.
Anyone here who would recommend any certain positions to put them in?

And, no - I will NOT use the clean sounds much

Take care
CJ

Tung Sol in V1 works for me

(and I was following other's recomendations when I first tried it)

A JJ in V3 sounds pretty good too ... it depends on what sound you are after. I ended up reverting to a Mesa in V3, but it was a close decision.

Not sure if the slots are the same for all the amps you mention you have with regard to which channels they affect. The above was on my Dual rec,
V1 does all channels... V3 does Ch 2 and 3

I can't say about those tubes but check out my findings when i went with NOS... to me its more about knowing what each location does for your tone and choosing the right tube for certain characteristics.

Thanks, both of You! The thread by Jdurso was very informative too!

I put the Tung Sol in V1 of my RKII and a Ruby/JJ in V3.
The tone is solid - maybe a little more compressed and with a little less "bite" than with stock tubes.
I'll run it for a while and we'll see! ;)

Take care
CJ
