Hi folks. When did the 2.0 version first hit the streets? I have the opportunity of picking up an older triaxis from 1997 or before (seller not positive). He bought it used in 97.

Is there a way you can tell? by serial #? other method?

If it's that old, I would ASSume it might not have a fhat mod done either? Again, any way to tell?

Thanks

when you turn it on the displays light up the version. If he turns the unit on and all the displays say a 2.0 then it is a version 2. Some of the V1s were converted to V2 at the boogie plant.

Without be 100% sure this is from an eBay seller from the past:

"The TriAxis was introduced to the world in October 1992 and began with serial #T0001. That would have been the 1.0 software version. In January 1993 the version 2.0 software was introduced. That would have been somewhere around serial #T1700. In 1997 around serial #T5000, all TriAxis were leaving the factory with the Phat MOD was part of the software. The Phat MOD only affects Lead One RED. It simply smoothes out the top-end of the Rectifier Sound making it sound more like the actual Rectifier itself."

Hope it helps.

So all of the new Triaxis I would get at a store are considered the v2.0 "non-phat" that people are looking for or is it the ones from 1993-1997?

The new ones don't have the recto board at all dude so no phat mod or recto tones applies anyway. The recto mode is replaced with a british style lead.

Here is the info i got direct from mesa

1st version released 1992 - no V2.0 Continuous Control

TX4 Board (or recto board) added 1/25/1993 #T1631

2/16/93 2.0 software continuous control added

#T5200 - Phat Mod Added

10/2004 - TX4 Board (recto board) removed #T8279

So in all that's four different versions of the triaxis.

Aight so 1993-1997. Man.....hard to believe the prices those things still go far being 10+ years old. Little confusing to newbies cause Mesa still boasts Recto tones on the Triaxis on the web site.

Yeah tell me about it, you try living in australia then. It's ridiculous, i am in the market for one at the moment and talk about painful, i would just buy new if it were still being produced with the recto board. And i am getting no help on this forum (or from boogie direct) about what a new lead1red sounds like in comparison. I just don't know what to do.

Im guessing we would both be happy with one no matter what one it is. ****.....people are still using IIC+ amps and those aren't even made anymore. I have my bets that Mesa stuff lasts a long long time and even if it's old should still be reliable.

Is there any other way to tell if it's a phat MOD or not. Someone is selling one with a serial number of T-57xx and said its non-phat.

You can have a PHAT mod reversed. Most people DON'T know their equipment and will tell you anything for the sale. I wouldn't buy one unless I was 100% sure it was what I wanted. Some people have V1 listed as "non phat"
