We all know Tremonti uses the Triple Rectifier, but I was wondering if there would be a lot of difference in tone if I used a Dual Rectifier instead of a Triple Rectifier to try to 'nail' his tone.

How much difference would there be?

Is Triple Rectifier the way to go if you're going for Tremonti's tone?

(doing some research for a friend who is interested in a Recto)

if you really want to be a stickler and be exact, get the triple. But for the most part, there is hardly any audible difference. The only things people have ever noticed are:
1) triple will have more headroom in the clean channel because of the extra 50w
2) triple is a little tighter in the distortion because of the extra 50w
3) it costs a lot of money to retube!! and it's very very loud!

The tone is the exact same though.

I would recommend the Dual over the Triple. Like Elpelotero said, the tone is very similar, the Triple just has more headroom. If you're looking to get Tremonti's tone at anything other than earl-blistering, arena size volumes, stick with the Dual. I play some pretty large clubs with my Dual Recto and Roadster, and they often tell me to turn down.

If you want to take it a step further....Tremonti uses Fender's for his clean tone. If you went with the Mesa Roadster, you'd get the Recto growl with the Fender'esque cleans. Just a thought.

I agree also agree with the Roadster, but someone offered my fried a Dual or Triple for way cheaper.

I own a Roadster and getting ready to buy a 2nd one

MusicMan JP6, I'm the one from TGP...

You're getting ready to buy a 2nd Roadster? Can I ask why you need more than 1? I'm just curious. lol

As for Tremonti's tone, I'd say a Dual is fine. I have a Dual and can get his tone pretty easily. I just wish I were as good a player as he is.

I live in two countries. U.S. and Nicaragua

gotta have one in each

Mark actually records with a DR. If you're looking for his live tone, you'll have to get some additional amps like Bogners and Randall, but if you want his recording tone, just get a DR.

His live rig has changed since that video. His tone is now a lot more Uberschall with a little bit of Recto. It used to be more Recto and a little Uberschall. I think he uses a Shiva for his leads now too. This is all his live setup by the way.
