So I'm in the market to get a Trem-o-verb but Im not sure if I should get the 2x12 combo or if I should get the head and then simply run a 2x12 mesa cab underneath it. I know theres the cost difference but which is better? I'm your typical college bedroom jammer right now so I have no need for a full stack but is there any difference in tone between the two setups? I assume they use the same electronics but I'm very uneducated in the world of tube amps... Any advice/recommendations?

Same amps, however the 2x12 combo is super heavy, plus if you do want to upgrade later, not only will you have to lug around a cab, but also the 2x12.

I personaly never get combo's, only if a great deal falls in my lap, but combo's are more prone to microphonics and like i said they can be super heavy.

Personally, I'm not a fan of combos. When I downsized in college a while back, it was a head and 2X12 cab. Plus, when I went back up to a stack, all I had to do was replace my cab with a 4X12.

As you can see by my sig...IMHO go with the head and cab. Get a 212, maybe some day you'll add to it. Easier to carry around peices. Both are LOUD. Head and cab keeps your options open for the future.
