ok well i called GC and they said series 2 RK will not be out until may. I asked if i could trade in my mint series 1 RK for credit and they said "of course! we'll take care of you, brother!!"

these are the same guys who offered 600.00 trade in credit for my lake placid blue custom shop jazzmaster that sold on ebay for 1890.00. they said they "had no idea what this kind of thing would bring on the floor." lol.

anyways do you guys have any idea what the trade in might be on a RKS1 in may? are they going to discontinue them and slash the prices on them?

what would they give you for your amp?

bend over.... thats what you get.

i'd never sell an amp to GC. :?

yeah, pretty much what i figured.

Usually you get about 1/2 or the "used" selling price. I bet you'd only get about $1000 to $1200 trade-in value for it  Heck, if you're gonna go that route, I'll give you $1000 for it

Yep, I'd sell it out-right instead of trading in.... I've lost more than I care to mention by trading in stuff. Dang GAS!!

I was wanting a different combo amp about 6 months ago and was wanting to trade off my ROV combo to a local store for a Traynor 1x12 ($550 amp) and I was hoping to get a little money back, but the salesman said he'd take my amp and $200  , I laughed and said "you realize this is a $1400 amp" and he said "Not to people around here, unless it says Fender on it I won't trade you straight across". Needless to say I didnt' trade my ROV in, I sold it for $900 on Ebay.

Id be pretty suprised if they gave you more than 1000 for it.

BUT here is the one benefit to trading something to guitar center.

When you trade in gear for something more expensive, you dont pay sales tax on the difference.

So, for something like this, it may be worth looking into.

And why are you guys so eager to jump on to this new version of the RoadKing, without having actually played it anyway?

For all you know it could be worse!

Early 2ch rectos are regarded as much better than their later 3ch versions, also look at the MkIIC+ etc etc etc

I'm actually holding out..... I've got a new found love for my Road King with my new tele!! I love this amp and I really like the clean tones I've re-discovered. It'd be nice to have a better reverb, but I don't use a whole lot of reverb to warrent the exchange of amps. Maybe if I'm in a "surf" mode I'll crank the verb, but that's what FX processors, reverb plug-ins and digital FX are for and my old Fender Deluxe is great for those tones.

I'm pretty happy today with my setup, after I hear a RK II I may change my mind but I'm not going to let GAS get the best of me when this much is at stake!

there is nothing wrong with the rk 1

i'm glad to hear that. I love my rk 1... the thing is, i had just contacted my amp guy about somehow boosting the reverb, by adjusting how much was mixed in with the guitar, if that was possible.. he said it wasnt something he could do, and then i read about rkII... you can kind of get carried away.

"remain calm. you have a road king."

I'd take a Series I if I could find one. They're pretty scarce around here.

Yeah, NEVER sell your gear to GC! I'm wanting to sell my modified Laney VH100R and I took it in to see what they'd give me. I've invested a total of $2,000 in the amp and they said that they'll give me $500 for it and that was more than the used blue book value!
