Give my drummer (and best friend) some time off from the band. He and his wife (Backup singer) got married a couple months ago and are bringing in a lot of drama/quibbs . Hardest thing I had to do in a while, but it got to the point where everyone else was waiting for me to do something and focus was lost on why we were doing this...FUN maybe? Any one else had to make a hard call?

Crazy that couples can bring a good thing down. I did leave the door open, but if and when they come back it is going to be way different. I spent way to much time dealing with probs and should of spoke up about six months ago when they got engaged and had to go to "Couples Counseling" Mix that with a lot of pride it gets redonkulous!

I've seen this happen, too. We once had a man and woman in a band become romantically involved and that caused some friction. Before the band broke up, they did, fortunately for the rest of us. The band went on without the woman.... :?

It was too bad, as we lost talent, but I learned long ago that you can not mix business with friends or family. And a band is a business, to at least some extent. :(

Good luck to you and your band members :)

What is weird is that when I set this up, all people had to do is learn the tunes and show up and play. I didn't take a hard line like "This is my band, my way or the highway". We are all adults and experienced musicians that have been around for a while. I had everything set up from the rehearsal spot to setting up the PA at gigs, and still didn't sink in how good they had it compared to other bands I have been in. Show up, play, go home, leave the personal crap at the door.
RANT RANT RANT!

thats a tough situation. I had to kick one of my best friends out of a band once for drinking/money problems and it was horrible. Luckily we are still friends and can still get together once in a while and jam.

Best of luck!

I'm one more canceled practice away from giving myself time off from the band. It's only been 5 weeks since I joined but the last 3 practices have been shot down by either the singer having drama with his wife or the bass player having drama with his. They already know he stuff so I am pretty much the only one suffering from not getting to practice.

It seems like you did the right thing, although I'm sure it didn't feel good. It's not really your fault though man, you just want everything to go smoothly and they're creating more obstacles for everybody. I used to be in a band where the singer was pretty much the heart and soul of the band but it all fell apart because he had one of the worst cases of being PW I've ever personally seen. Oh, that was BEFORE he got her pregnant, so I could only imagine what it would be like now
