Last week, this guy tried to push this amp off as an original '65 Twin on craigslist. I saved the html file of it, here is the copy & paste of it, & the photos with the ad:

"I HAVE A VINTAGE 1965 FENDER TWIN REVERB WITH 11 TUBES THAT DOES NOT GET ANY USE. I DONT HAVE THE TIME TO PLAY IT ANYMORE. THIS IS NOT A REISSUE AMP, IT IS 100% ORIGINAL. I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH AND KNOW WHAT THE SELL FOR. SERIOUS INQUIRES ONLY PLEASE!

I posted a "RE:" calling this dude out on this, ( http://kansascity.craigslist.org/msg/768093569.html ) The "IT IS 100% ORIGINAL. I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH AND KNOW WHAT THE SELL FOR" bit really set me off. I got a couple of "atta boy" emails from folks, & I guess a guy actually bought it under the impression that it was a real '65, and after seeing my posting, contacted the dude & I guess he got his money back. (He emailed me asking if I saved the ad, "just in case")

Now, a week later, I see this:
http://kansascity.craigslist.org/msg/784448399.html

Same pics, but now this guy is trying to pass it off as a 74 or 75! I tried posting another "RE:" to try to call this guy out on it again, but apperently it had been flagged for removal! (probably by the guy who posted it)

Folks, people who try to misrepresent stuff & rip people off really tick me off! If you could take a minute or 2 to flag that post, or even send an email telling him that people are on to him, that would be cool!

Thanks!

I'm with you. I can't stand it when people either purposely post stuff, trying to rip someone off, or say "they've done their research" and are WAY off the mark. I used to call it everytime I saw it, but at this point, it's not worth the effort. Even if I politely try to point out that they may have their facts mixed up, and try to point them in the right direction, I end up getting flamed. It's just not worth it to me anymore.

What about those E-Bay ads selling vintage guitars.

There was this one post of two supposedly authentic vintage Les Pauls. Obvious from China. It goes into detail how rare, valuable and collectable these guitars are.

On another forum I'm on, a member post up this E-Bay telling us he's going to asks questions about these two Les Pauls to the seller.

Buyer's Question:
"Nice guitars, is it possible if I could buy a few of these?"

Seller's Answers: "You certainly can, we have lots these!"

It's an '81-'82 master volume, still has the silverface era circuitry....

It's too bad that kind of thing happens. I think it usually catches up to people, though.
