+1 on the Stiletto

I've had a ROV, LS Classic, MKIV, and now my Stiletto Deuce. The Stiletto is the only Mesa I'd play now. It sounds good every time with... no tweaking.

I think at this point the Stiletto is the only other Mesa that interests me. If I can sell my RoV for what I want then i'll try to pickup a Stiletto Ace used. If my amp doesn't sell I won't be too upset. :lol:

Only thing I can think is you had a bad recto, because yes the recto's can get muddy, but with the right settings and a booster pedal I can make it sound great and have had many.

It's hard to recommend stuff to someones that's been through so much. I've been through 3 Mesas myself in the last 2 years, and have tried a plethora of other amps.

I can say that the Stiletto is the finest Mesa I've played. For once, when I plug into that amp, I'm not tweaking...I'm just rocking with some SWEET tone. And I do agree...it's like an odd morph of the Mark and Recto....has a nice natural sponginess that the Mark was missing, but still tight enough for any riffing. On the other side, Rectos have and always will sound like mudd to me :?

I wouldn't hesitate on the Stiletto one bit!

I'm happy to hear all of this Stiletto praising. I love my Stiletto II. My Stage I was awful, but my Stage II is beyond fantastic.

I've gone through A LOT of Mesas-- Tremoverb, Rectoverb, a few 2-channel Dual Rectos, Stage I Stiletto, and a Blue Angel and I'd have to say that the Stiletto II is the best of them all. I'd even look into the ACE if you're worried about price. I run my Deuce on 50W, both channels, ALL THE TIME and it is loud as a mother. Sounds brilliant for gigs and, as far as the dirty channel goes--fluid drive and tite gain--runs circles around my other guitarists Mark IV.

I definitely think that the Stiletto's worth the look. Do check into the ACE as well, though. The Deuce is everything and more, but for the money you get the same stuff and perfect wattage from the ACE, not to mention those sweet PLEXI-lookin' head shells! SO SWEET!

Or try a different guitar or three... different Axes make different tones...BIG TIME!
