This amp so "ROCKS". So I gigged with my ED Saturday night and used my new Maxon AD999Pro for the first time at Gig volume. Here's my findings.
1. This delay just rocks my world.
2. If your in 90 watt mode, the delay level stays consistent between the modes.
3. If your in 45 watt mode, it doesn't. I have tweaked my arse off and it just can't be balanced between the clean and gain modes.
4. My solutionn was to just run it in 90 all night.
5. The drunker I got, the better I thought I sounded.
6. The drunker I got, the more my listeners wished I would have just passed out and stopped playing.
7. They got their wish. I woke up at 4 am, guitar still around my neck and all of my gear still there and intact, with cocktail straws stuck up my nose and the A,G,and high E strings missing off my guitar. I'm not sure what the hell that was all about. Everyone I talked to the next day said it was the best guitar tone they had ever heard from me, up until some douchebag decided to give us Cabo Wabo shots until we said uncle.
8. I never said "uncle".
9. This amp just flat out kills.
10. check out the Maxon AD999 Pro if you get a chance. It is stellar in the effects loop.

Agreed on your subject

Will have to try this Maxon sometime. I've been looking for a real quality delay - maybe this is the ticket!

90 watt mode is the only way to go! I couldn't help but laugh at #5 'cuz I've fallen prey to that one before, though I've never passed out and woken up with my guitar still around my neck. Sounds like one hell of a night.

Got my stuff back home and set back up. As you can see, everything is still intact. I hear that there are some less than flattering pics from that night that are supposed to be on their way to me. I will post them, after I see them and decide they are not too bad. These are the settings I used all night except I was in 90 watt mode. Ya'll might not give a crap, but I'm still in the DOGHOUSE at home and I'm really bored. So, here ya go.

Hilarious specialed, and so glad that you got all of your gear back in one piece.....while enjoying one Hell of a night!! Still laughing!!

You must be a young, pup......while I remember those types of nights.....I realize that nowadays.....I wouldn't have awakened from the experience!

That's just it MB. I turned 42 in April. I just can't hang like I used too. My singer is 22. He's got one helluva a tolerance and he drives the rest of us in the ground if we act our age. The dude's got some pipes though. I must say though that if I had to do it over again, i would have passed on all that tequilla.

I have a hunch that you will find the average age of most ED players on this forum is older then the average age of all the other boogie players with the possible exception of the lonestar.

I'm 39.

I can't even imagine the dog house I would be in.

My wife is still pissed at me because I had to work late (10-11 at night) a bunch of times the past week, and a few of those times were from home.

Passed out drunk?

Man I might have to rent an apartment.

She's actually pissed cause I didn't call. She was there for most of the night. She left around midnight expecting me in around 2 as usual. She still thinks it's 1988 and I'm doing every groupie there is. First off, If there was a groupie for the music we play I wouldn't get near her today, and second, were just a bunch of old geezers that love to play rock n roll. You know, It's too bad that one music genre has to die for another to take its place. I would kill to have 38 special or Molly Hatchett put out another hit album. I guess I'm just a product of the late 70's and early 80's and I always will be. Rock and roll ain't noise pollution, it's just a state of mind that will always be near and dear to my heart and ears. The ED speaks so perfectly for that time frame and can do even more if your patient and have a clue about gear and EQ. I love this amp and honestly wouldn't change a thing. It speaks so well in all things I play. If I do need to re-EQ it takes a minute at most. That can't be said for any other amp I've ever owned.

Nice guitar too BTW! I am guessing is a S2 or S4. I own a S3 and absolutely love it! :D

Yeah. She's an S4. Turns out that I ended up with my dream guitar and my dream amp all in the same year. 2009 was unforgetable.

I got the dream amp and built (building) the dream board.........maybe next year the guitar will come...

Hey Laskyman, Are you still diggin the 4.23? My Koko Boost will be here any day. I'm hoping it's similar to the CAL but with an added mid shot when you want it.

yeah- the MK 4.23 is the best pure clean boost in the business...not only does it do what they say it will do, but it looks sexy too- its so good that I am really wanting to check out a Holy Fire OD....Creation Audio labs is for real...

because it's the best amp in the history of the earth. if you own this amp you don't care about forums.

forum is sooooooo.... boring...
as i count the days until i can order my dyne - i have nothing to do but check the forum to hear the glorious adventures of those already in the club!
and.... nothing....

i'm up for a promotion at work... should find out within a few weeks. if i get it - i'll text my wife the news and immediately call Petaluma!

after much internal debate...

i'm ordering a long head and another 3/4 back 112 cab for a badass mini-stack!

this decision actually cost me some sleep because i had an opportunity to rethink my planned-rig and get a sweet deal on a mint marshall 1960 cab!

am i using too many smiley face things? 3 seems excessive for one post but each seemed to apply as i typed.
whatever... someone post something!!!

Any reason you're not ordering a matching ED cab? Or is that what you meant?

Johnny

well, that was part of my internal debate...

i have a 3/4 back 112 and i LOVE it. so i know what i'll be getting and like the idea of ordering another identical cab... i can use one or both cabs depending on where i'm playing... stack 'em or spread 'em out... sonically - i don't know how much different the dyne cab and 3/4 back are - before they came out with the ED cabs - people on this forum were talking about the 3/4 back being the cab which most closely matched the combo - i know how much i love the 3/4 back, so i'm not worried about it...

and for shallow reasons - i just don't dig the look of the dyne cabs... i like the plain black look of the 3/4 back. i think the dyne head with 2 of them will look just right!

to each their own, right?

This is funny as hell. I just found out that I might be losing my regular job tomorrow due to lack of work. I was just about to pull the trigger on a 4x12 straight front recto cab to go with my ED, and so I had to call the dude and tell him I'm still interested, but can't close the deal until I find out where I stand tomorrow. I'm so dam depressed about about it. I really wanted that cab and it is such a great deal and it's local. Well, My wife and 2 kids come first and my Dyne is right on their heels, but could never replace them. So we will just have to wait it out and hope for the best. I hope you get your promotion dudleydawson, and I hope I get to keep my job. In the mean time, I'm gonna drink some more tequilla, and do my best to piss off my neighbors. Rock on all you Dyne-a-saurs*.

*Dyne-a-saur, not to be confused with Dinosaurs! or Dinosaur, is a male, between the ages of 20 and 70 that loves an amp that can produce Classic American chest thumping clean tones, and with A, (I mean one) push of a button, can go to an awe inspiring gritty blues tone and with the push of another button can get RIP-YOUR-FRICKIN-HEAD-OFF, BRITISH-INSPIRED, SMOOTH and EFFORTLESS, ELASTIC FEELING CLASSIC METAL TONES.

aww man... sorry to hear that specialed...
i don't have any tequila on hand, but i'll put back some jim beam and do some rocking in my basement for your cause...
of course - it'll have to be quiet - since it's after bedtime, and i too have a wife and 3 tikes that come before my dirty rock habit.
hope everything works out for you... best of luck...
