Man, I was going broke buying and selling pedal after pedal after pedal....then I tried some mods, in particular the Monte Allums mods, among others. (recommended right here on this very forum!)

Maybe I just got lucky, I dont know, but.......now that I have modded every pedal I have (except the Q Tron.....no mods for EHX stuff) I aint selling and I aint looking and I aint unhappy with any of them....

Now I can afford mic GAS and amp GAS and maybe even guitar GAS.....

That is a good point. I have an old Boss OD3 that I got for £35 so I may have a go at modding that. It sounds OK but not that great, plus it does not matter if I mess it up so much as it was so cheap!

I used to buy/sell lots of pedals (some already modded) when I had my pedalboard. I was constantly buying/selling. It was fun for a while, but I got tired of it eventually. I ended up trading two modded pedals for a BOSS GT-8 one day just to try it out. I fiddled around with the 4 cable method and was really impressed! Then when I got the amp control (channel switching) feature hooked up I was hooked. I sold my ENTIRE pedalboard immediately. I haven't looked back. If I want octave today i'll call that effect up... if I get tired of it i'll replace it with something else. It's been a real eye opener. Sure there are better quality effects if you buy individual boutique stomps for the price of the whole GT8, but for convenience, tidiness, and features - it can't be beat. The GTs preamps don't sound bad either!

had someone else mod the 10 band MXR, but ended up selling it. Sold the Sparkle Drive before I got a chance to mod it, but I dont think any mods will improve that one a whole lot as it's already decent.

No mods available for the NS2, CE5, or DE3. But they sound decent as is any way, so I kept those. It's usually the comps, boosters, eq's and od's that need modding.

^^ I'd be interested in modding my Dynacomp. What sort of mods are available for that? And what would the mods provide tone wise? I have an extra one I'm not using, so I'd be willing to sacrifice it, if that's what it came to.

If your DC is not brand spankin new (not the "F" revision model) then you can look at these mods. With the DC mod, there isnot a lot of room for changing the tone, there is no tone control on that one, just output gain and sensitivity. So the goal with this one is to get rid of the noise floor. I like it a lot, better in many ways than the CS3 which does have a tone control. But check Allums page and listen to the mp3 demo. Hard to tell anything from clips online, but I was thoroughly impressed when I plugged mine in, I leave it on all the time. Easy to work on also.
