Any help getting that tone with a mark III? I'm pretty sure they used rectos on the album, but maybe with the presence higher I can get in that tonal range? I have to say that album might have the best metal tone I have EVER heard. If they were using rectos thats the best I've ever heard a recto sound and I might have to go buy one  But seriously any advice how to get there with the Mark?

Testament

They were one of the big 80's thrash bands, probally the most underrated of all of them. Had Alex Skolenic on lead for awhile. The album "low" is the first one after he left and is crazy heavy, it was beyond its time I think as now a lot of modern metal bands have that sound but none are as good as them.

Testament pre "low":

Yea the pre "Low" to me sounds really rectoish just from the little bit of time ive spent with my triple rec, and the kinda rythm sound I want to get away from. The second song is much more darker and a thicker tone, If thats a Rectrifier its got some heavy layers and effects on it. Or I just havent found that channel on mine yet! :)

I would say you could Nail that first songs tone with a rectifier no problem.

If you nail the 2nd tone..... GIVE me your settings!

Yeah it's that 2nd tone I'm going for, it's probally just studio magic with layering that gets it. I'm trying to do it with a Mark III though, I think it can be done if the presence is a little higher the bass up and mids low.

i heard they use a ts-808 as a boost in front of their triple recto's..saw them live and they used the venues duals and got that tone. one of the most amazing live metal bands ever!!
