Street Price on a LSS

I purchased one about 2 years ago when the Canadian dollar was very low in comparison to the USA dollar. Now the currencies are aproaching par so I have no idea on price Stateside.

My son would like to get one to keep at University so I told him I'd check it out and get him one.

What is the street price in the USA?

In Canada I can get a 1 x 12 for about 1,850.00 Canadian + tax.

The price for a 1X12 LSS in the states, from the August 2007 Mesa price list, is $1,699 plus any taxes. All dealers will sell the LSS at that price.

Thats strange. I heard this before. They sell at List price only. In Canada that is against the law. (Falls under the combines and competition act). I asked a USA dealer about this about 2 years ago and he gets around the discount issue by saying is was scratched on the floor or was out on short term rental. So they still do not discount. Hmmm I bet most do though.

I have 4 new Mesa and the discount was always in the 13 or 14 % on the higher priced gear and about 10% on entry level pieces.

Anyway that answers my question because with the small exchange rate now we are about the same in both countries if you assume a no discount from some USA dealers.
