I use an MP1 into Cab IRs for practice/composing but it sounds good enough to do serious Recording.


Are you finding the Triaxis into CAB IRs to be as good or nearly as good as micing an actual Amp ?

I very much enjoy the CAB IR's vs. Mic'd Amp sounds. I find that I have much more control over the sound of an IR Tone than I do over a Mic'd Amp tone. I feel getting the right sound from a Mic'd Amp takes a certain artistry and finesse that is really unnecessary for my applications. I've been writing and recording music for the better part of 10 years now and I feel like IR's, RECAB IR's specifically, give me the tones I need, when I need them. I wish some of them weren't so boxy sounding, but you really can't notice it unless the tracks are solo'd out.

I use RECAB 3.0. I'll check out the 3.1 version.
