Still awaiting the arrival of my Mark V head

KInd of humorous twist to the story. I have yet to hear anything from boogie or my dealer on the status of my head so I call San Jose and they still have the bubinga combo. I call my dealer and tell him I have a lead on a bubinga amp can he get some sort of update on my head. I told him I don't mind waiting a little longer but really don't want to wait untill Christmas. I get no follow-up from him so I buy the combo in San Jose this morning- to be shipped Tuesday. I then go over to my local dealer to cancel my order and get my deposit back and he tells me he has still not heard back from his boogie rep but informs me that he received notice that he has 5 pieces in transit from boogie, to be delivered Tuesday. He has no idea what is in the order as boogie doesn't tell them. Now I start to worry that I may go from have no MK 5 to having a bubinga head and matching combo. I call San Jose and they thankfully are nice enough to hold the combo until I see if my head comes in. If my head arrives they will cancel my purchase.

I feel sorry for you guys that placed orders and had/have to wait so long. When I decided I wanted one, I called a local shop and told them to give me a call if any came in that weren't spoken for and I would put 1000 down over the phone and come pick it up. I had one 4 days after I made that call.

I put a deposit on a head at Mesa Hollywood and John told me it would be a couple weeks. Had an email 4 days later that my head was in and ready to ship. Good dudes at Mesa Hollywood. Maybe they have priority.

I could've had a black one. The day I went into GC they had one that hadn't been unpacked. The sales person was kind enough to unpack it and set it up for me. I liked what I heard. The thing is, I needed a cream color to match my cabs and MKIIC+. I went to GC a couple of weeks later and the black MKV head was already gone.

Okay you gotta hear todays events. So as it sits I have purchased a bubinga combo in San Jose and they are nice enough to hold it for me pending arrival of a 5 piece shipment my local store was to receive today incase my pre-ordered bubinga head arrives after 6 months wait.Well the order comes and my store refuses delivery because the owner has not received prior notification of the order's contents as he is supposed to. He tells me there was a custom order head in the shipment but he does not know if it was mine or another customers. It turns out that if he accepts the delivery he is obligated for everything even if it was a shipping error. Boogie is supposed to give him 1 weeks notice to verify contents prior to shipping. At this time I do not know who to be angry at, just gotta laugh. What a way to do business all the way around.

heh so you were the one who bought it? i was eyeing it for a week or so. i visited twice to look @ it. very nice wood! :wink:

anyway, i'm looking at this one listing on ebay about a 1x12 combo v. i'm thinking of passing on the guitar showcase one, depending on whether or not this guy gets back to me about details. it'd save me about $500 even with shipping cause of the taxes and the price of a new combo. independently i also saw on clist a guy offering a mark iv for $900, but depends on whether he gets back to me either. then i could sell the mark iv i already have. i'm ok with slightly less nice looking gear. we'll see...

btw al-az, have you also tried gelb music in redwood city? don't know how successful you'll be over there, but they also deal mesa and have a reasonable stock of other odds and ends.

Well, I'm into week 8 on my wait. I went into guitar center and asked them to call Boogie next week. I think it is time for the squeeky wheel treatment. 8)

:S Well i was waiting for a Mark V Head since early June.
Finally it came. Did a rehersal with it and i was totally blown away with the tone. Next day sent the head back cuz a switching 3rd channel (with eq on) problem.
So i'm guessing i'll have to wait again for a long time because there are no MKV Heads in Stock (in Portugal).
I wish i didn't rehearsed with it.

I received my MKV head eight weeks to the day. I played it and I am still working on tweeking it. It sounds great. I have found the EQ to be useful. I will probably retube it in the near future. I will post a thread with pics, when I get my entire rig set up and going.
