Is it worth investigating modding the amp to change the resistor value for the non-adjustable bias to make it hotter biased (not the standard extremely cold mesa default bias)?

I can say with conviction, the answer is HELL NO.

The bias is fixed at -39v, but the plate voltage will vary with the switching of Bold/Spongy and Diode/Tube Rec. I saw plate voltages of 360, 400,450 and 490, depending on how the switches were set. This made for some significant idle current draw differences as well. The Bold/Diode setting cooks the tubes fairly well.

I think that moving the bias would end up being a compromise situation because of the plate voltage issue. 8)

how does the touch sensitivity for leads compare with the trident vs. the deuce?

Played both through the same cab and same guitar. There was no noticeable difference to my ears or fingers.
