Stage II also has a green jewel lamp and as platypus stated it will have a small roman numeral II over the input

No kidding , It wears me out to go over it again but here we go . In a nutshell . They are both great amps . Ive had the pleasure of owning both and they both shine in different ways . You can find a stage I on ebay for around $1000 or a new stage II for $1700 . Stage II is a bit more agressive/quicker if you will while stage I has a bit more sag .
