Many complain about the brightness of the Stilettos, but it can be tamed, IMO. At least I've done it to my satisfaction. The stock Mesa str447's should be the first thing to go. My favorites are a tie between GT el34M and SED =C=. Different, but both awesome.

The real test for me was when, during one of our bands' gigs, I had a guitarist friend sit in with the rest of our band while I sat and had a cool one. He used his axe through my Ace and 2) 1x12 cabs.
Wow! I could really tell how awesome it sounded when I didn't have to concentrate on my own playing!

I almost didn't want to go back on stage!
I could finally hear what the audience hears and I was pleased! Didn't seem at all bright or harsh from out there; it was just pure "in your face" tone!

And I have had many compliments on my tone at gigs.
I feel it could be the overall best sounding amp Mesa's ever made. (bet that opens a can of worms! :lol: )
