After looking at some videos and reading about the fryette Im really liking this option as well. Do you think it would be closer to the JP2Cs tone from its power amp? Definitely might get this over a 2/90 though.
If I'm not mistaken, the slave out already has the power amp coloring, since it's coming from the output transformer as well. Running that into something transparent, like the Fryette, should be perfect.

I have a Fryette 2902, awesome power amp. It's cool that it has the two voicing options, flat and dynamic. One for use with preamps, one for modellers

I don't think you necessarily need power tube coloration for this application, but rather a power amp that replicates, with fidelity, the preamp tone from your slave out, so the Fryette 2902 should be an excellent choice, with its monster KT88 tubes. Besides, the JP2C's slave-out signal is tapped directly from the speaker output so it already contains power amp characteristics, no need to colour that again with the Mesa 2:90.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, the Mesa 2:90 has some tone controls that you can only use with the Triaxis preamp and not with the JP2C, too.

I have a 2011 2902 and it doesn't have the flat/dynamic voicing options (it has a voicing option switch but is it the same thing?); I thought the flat/dynamic option was introduced with the LXII, to use with either modellers or tube preamps. Am I wrong?

I'm fairly confident that's the same thing, but I could be wrong. I heard other people say it was, and when I tried it, it seemed to do just that. I was running an ADA MP-1 into the Fryette, and I toggled that switch back and forth a few times, and one way does sound flat and boring with a tube preamp

Are you guys talking about the old ones with the OG VHT logo? Ive been looking on reverb for some used ones and was thinking about getting one of those. Do I miss out on anything compared to the new ones?

Mine's a 2024 model. I think the only difference is on the really old VHT ones, the power and standby switches are in the center, instead of the right side. Although it appears that the really old ones don't have the 60 watt power reduction option

Mine is a Fryette branded 2011 model. Identical to current production units.
