Any recommends on beachy type family friendly areas to stay in L.A. with decent hotels am stopping over for a week from the UK, never been before so am clueless.

Scruffy - Welcome to the good ole US of A. Hope you enjoy your stay. Since your new to Mesa check out the Hollywood Mesa store. Never been there but a lot of guys here recommend it.

I was out in the Newport beach area last year. Very nice area situated just south of LA. Quiet beaches not very crowded. Might be a little expensive though. Work payed for it so I really didn't pay attention. Stayed at the Fairmont 4 Season, very nice.

Yeah, I'm hoping to squeeze it in along with a GC to see what the fuss is about, maybe pick up a bargain if there is any.

Be sure to also confront anyone else with this same look. Tell them they are posers and that they are scared of your "rebel status"

LA is a fun place to visit. I don't think I could live there but they used to have a video game convention that I would attend every year down there. They don't have it anymore so it's been a few years... I do miss my yearly visit!

Anyway welcome to the States!
