Hey guys!

Looks like I have a trade lined up for a Stiletto deuce...I'm very excited about it, and can't wait to get that puppy in my hands.

Now, what speakers do you guys run with your stilettos?

It seems like V30s are the stable speaker for any marshall type amp...

Thanks for the input!

What are you dumping for the Stiletto? Not the MKIV? Anyway, I just obtained a Black Label EV12L, I plan on pairing that with my Stiletto when I get it. Not that my plans help you, but I hear nothing but good things about EV's.

got the v30's in my Roadster cabs and they sound good. Kind of midrange and punchy sounding and certainly high quality. My only regret I think about is I never tried other speakers with Stiletto, I just went straight for what Mesa was installing in their cabs thinking they already did the work for us. I would suggest trying out some different speakers before committing so you're not wondering if you made the right choice. And then let us know what you find out.

V30's but I would love to try the stiletto with greenbacks. Those are my favorite speakers to use with a marshall. I find them to be smoother and warmer somehow.

Greetings:

I may be speaking out of turn here as I don't own a Stiletto; and regrettably I have never even heard one.
However from my understanding they seem to be designed for those who might otherwise buy a Marshall. Based on this; I thought the following might be worthy of consideration.

I noticed a few years back that Marshall had begun putting 1-Vintage 30 and 1-G12T-75 in their combo amps using 2-12-inch speakers.

I own a JCM800 100-watt combo that came with 2-G12T-75s in it. I put 1-Vintage 30 in it with 1-G12T-75 to see what it would sound like. The combination sounded very good. I like it better than either 2-G12T-75s OR 2-Vintage 30s'

Maybe if you know someone with one of the Marshalls that came like this; you could arrange to try your Stiletto through their speakers. Just a thought.

Best of luck in your quest: Charles

you NEVER heard a Stiletto?

click on this...

That's a Stiletto Deuce II on ch.2 Fluid Gain into Recto Traditional and Recto 2x12 cabs loaded with V30's, barely cranked up (volume at 8:30-9:00), and it cuts right through the mix very nicely.

I dont think the Stiletto tone suits the cookie monster vocal style or the vibe of your music.

To me the Stiletto is more of a classic sounding crunch/soaring lead tone amp. Here is a little hint that is direct from Rich at Mesa...add a delay or reverb in the effects loop that will bring in another half of a 12AX7 and kick the amp up a notch.

There is a video review here

For now, I'm gonna stick with Vintage 30s.

Any experience with the greenbacks though? I'm very intrigued by them!

hi,

I run an Ace head through a splawn 4x12 cab loaded with greenback reissues. b4, I was using a 2x12 cab wiht a v30 and a g12h30.

not the most direct comparison, but I prefer the 4x12 cab in most all aspects. the greenback is warmer by far, no shrill, no middy wierd cocked wah overtones. if you play rock, heavy rock, classic rock, then go greenback all the way. It can even handle high gain well as well, sounds great clean.

the only thing i think my 2x12 cab with v30 and g12h30 did better was those liquidly gainy tones.
