Hello everyone,

This is my first post on this forum and I have some questions because I am thinking about getting a Single Rectifier. Right now I have a Marshall TSL 100 half stack and there is just something missing. I think that Boogie might be the way to go.

1. Does the distortion channel on the Single Rec sound any different then the ones on the Dual and Triple recs? I have heard that it is different.

2. What is the process for dropping in EL34s? Any biasing or modification needed?

3. How are the vintage sounds on it?

Thanks so much and I look forward to your replies!! Cheers.

1. Virtually identical to the DR in silicone diode mode, maybe very slightly brighter/less fat sounding.
2. If you use Boogie tubes or tubes within their specs, just fit them and flip the switch.
3. The Vintage mode is the best for leads, you get a huge volume drop from Modern mode but don't let that put you off ! It sounds closer to a MKIV type lead tone than Modern does.

I'd try it with 6L6's first though, it makes the TSL100 sound like :(

:D

1) Same animal better break up at lower volumes IMO. Lacking tube rectification but the cleans seem better IMO.

2)Series 2 have a bias select switch. Recommended ratings between 4-7. Contact tube distributor and tell them what amp you'd be putting them in. Fixed bias, no bias trim pots.

3) My favorite mode.

Great amp wish it had Tube Rectification and channel assignable loop.

awesome kicks recto sounds with good cleans and reverb! buy mine

i have a spare pair of SED Winged C EL34s, would they be a direct swap for the 6L6s? Thanks.

85% of your tone porblem is with that 1960a. I am running a TSL into a Fender MH412ST and it sounds way better in every regard. If things work out, I'll put a Boogie up there where it belongs :).

Actually I am not running the 1960a cab, I have the 1960av with the British made V30s. I will keep the cabinet for the mesa or just keep what I got.

Only if they're within Boogie tolerances, and you have to set the bias switch to EL34 of course !!

it sounds different yeah. it is much tighter and creamy than a dual or triple. very loud amp. I had a dual and did nt like the loose sound. bought a rectoverb and a roadster and the sounds both awesome. the clean channel though breaks up earlier.good for rock tunes

Thanks so much and I look forward to your replies!! Cheers.
