I've never been crazy about miking amps at gigs, as the sound quality can be all over the shop. Unwanted feedback can also be a problem.
I found the solution for me - Radial JDX DI, which connects between the amplifier and the speaker, then out to the PA. Normal DI's just get the amp, so without speaker interaction sound nasty to my ears.
This thing makes me sound through a PA like a properly miked up cross between a closed back 4x12 and open 2x12. A little different to the 1x12 in my LSS, but for some things actually sounds bigger.
And I'm not connected to Radial in any way, just really pleased it does the job for me.
