Hell yeah, you got it, dude :D
What a great answer - but as funny it looks, there's really some truth in it.
Cheers

I dont agree, i am over 30 and can play, but defintly like the stage 2 better. I have owned them both, but the stage 1 was just a little too flubby and I do like gain and it was lacking a little.

I played an Ace this week at our GC. I liked it a lot but what keeps me from trading in my F-50 is the ability to go from clean, to crunch/med. OD to Fluid Drive/Tight Gain through the footswitch. I love the F-50 footswitch. Almost acts like a 3-channel amp. That's the downfall of the Ace. Modes are great but if I can only switch between 2 out of 6, what's the point?

GC offered me $500 trade-in on my F-50. Ace was marked at $1299, he said he'd blow it out for $950 with trade-in, so $450. Problem is the amp has a 5 inch gash in the middle of the grill :( and the quote from Mesa is around $250 shipped for a new grill plate. Ouch!

Also, something doesn't sound quite right when I wasn't playing. Kind of like a swooshing sound of the tubes. Not sure, it wasn't the built-in fan. No Mesa warranty and the 1-year GC warranty is $180.

I have some great pedals from Barber like the Direct Drive that does a decent Marshall sound. Not sure I want to give up the F-50's contour mode.

Stage 1 is for guys over 30 who are too arrogant to admit a failure.
Stage II is for the seekers of tone.

+1...I think the same thing can be said of the RK 1

This thread is getting pretty lame people.

Both amps have gotten great reviews and there seems to be plenty of happy Stage 1 AND Stage 2 owners.

I'm pretty sure they put out the stage II to add more gain because of complaints. The only people who need more gain then what's available in stage I should just buy a 5150.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the need for that kind of sound.

My advice is if you don't play nu-metal or death metal or stuff of that nature then stage I is the ticket.

One other reason is I heard that the crunch channel on stage two is duplicated exactly on both channels. That is awesome and would make me think about checking out a stage II next for the next one.
