Noticing the level of skepticism (and fear?) that the MarkV seems to get over here in the UK among blues guys (Who seem to think its vicious metal only) when it initially gets when I turn up at jams with one, (Not usually a prob once they've heard it :) ) I went on a mission to show 'em the versatility of the V and a couple of dedicated blues tones along with the sort of rock metal stuff they may have been fearing..
If my chops wouldn't do it, I figured some tone carving might show the range and abiltahh of the amp itself at least.

The amp was set on the metal rhythm stuff in 2C+ and Mark IV mode Both in Pentode at 10 watts (or maybe 45/tube, my usual other) watts. 'M' shape graphic with extra bass boosted.

For the funk/blues stuff it was Tweed on Channel 1, then Edge on Channel 2 mode both with a moderate frown shape on the Graphic, with the crest around 8 in the mids. (45 watt/tube)

There are definitely a few guys whom it would seem who think the Mark series as a vicious Dual rec or something, just cause of the name or cause they've only met Mark series players who mostly hammer the metal.. the irony is they are mostly Fender freaks unaware largely of the origin of the Boogie.. They usually are shocked when they hear it let rip though. (Especially when slide guitar gets involved) Have met some folks that have owned Blue Angels, Heartbreakers and things though who know a little more, thankfully. :)

If you are on a similar mission, and would like to post your tone contrast vids here, you are most welcome to do so....
(They'll almost certainly be better than this offering! lol)

Working together to stomp out Boogie prejudice and ignorance. :p

Maybe you can show them in the Boogie website the 'artists' who use the Mark V... It goes from Lamb of God to blackeyed peas

Yes indeed I shall have to... Ive mentioned Walter Trout hoping to appeal to their blues sensibilitahs, but even that failed to impress a couple of em..
Santana too.

Basically with those coupla cases, unless Clapton played one, or unless its a fifties beat up acoustic that John Lee Hooker personally took a dump on they don't seem to wanna know...fools.

Blues "purists" are a funny lot. Don't try to change their minds or open their eyes, you'll only waste your time and frustrate yourself.

can you post a photo of the settings to the metal rhythm stuff , cause i never got a good sound using the "M" shape in the Mark V...on the MArk IV the "M" shape was my stock shape...

Thanks!

Okey doke, I'll take one tonight. :) In the meantime, I can tell you that on the preamp the prescence was backed off to like 10-11 o'clock, allowing for the smoothing/deharshening. Treble was like 2o'clock, Middle was 1 0'clock ish, Bass was around 10:30/11 o'clock, I think... Gain at 1-2 o'clock on bright.
Also my FX loop was hard bypassed.

i have a friend thats EXACTLY like that. he wont even play any amp that has more than like 6 knobs. he even showed me this victoria amp he wanted to get that has one knob. a volume knob.

i need a little more tweakability than that.
