Running DC2 and a Studio 22+ in Stereo W/ G Force Problems??

I have been experimenting with the stereo set up using two power amps ,A Mesa Boogie DC2 and a Mesa Boogie Studio 22+. I am running a G Force FX processor thru the loops of both amps. So The DC2 on one side of the IN/OUT of the G Force (L) and the Studio 22+ on the IN/OUT of the other side(R) of the G Force. The problem I keep encountering is when one amp is on a hi gain channel they both sound like the hi gain channel??. My idea is to run one clean and the other with some gain or both clean or vise versa. Any ideas why would the gain of one amp affect the other???.

Here is another question. Will a GCX switcher or other switching unit work the same as, or better than, a line splitter, aby switch, to control the amps?
