Hey Guys,

Just wondering what would be the best way to set up a Recto ( havent decided which one yet, roadster, roadking or triple rect) not sure yet
but I want to run the 2 heads with my 2 Mesa Cabs...

first question

It is possible to run both heads through both cabs? with an A/B head switcher pedal?

is it possible to run my fx that I would usually run in a FX loop through both amps in stereo?

if so what do I need to archieve this?

same with pedals through the front Ie Wah, Boost pedals etc

anyway any advise would be great thanks guys

sorry for such a silly quesiton

You don't need a 'Head Switcher' if both amps are plugged into their own cabs. Just a simple A/B box if you want to switch back and forth or even a simple Y splitter if you always want both running.

Yes, provided all of the effects you plan on running as such are true stereo input and output. If any of them are mono input then things will get tricky.

Depending on what you're running it may actually be cheaper and easier to buy duplicate effects and run them in each loop than it will to buy and cable a full midi switching system.

It depends. Do you want to be able to switch back and forth between two amps? Or do you want both amps running all the time? Do you have true stereo effects units for the loop? Realisticly, how much money do you plan on spending?

As a heads up, to build a fully functioning A/B system with the ability to switch effects into both loops and control the most important features on each amp you're looking upwards of $2000 just on hardware alone.

A GCX switcher or an A/B/Y switch would be sufficient. Keep in mind that it sounds killer to have one amp running dry and the other wet.

A single GCX would be eaten up just controlling the channel and solo functions on both heads.

He'd need a second GCX to switch between amps as well as switching effects between amps. This assumes he isn't going too crazy on the number of effects he wants to be able to switch or he may require a third.

He could get by with the amp's footswitches, but he'd be tap dancing like a mother-f*cker switching amps/channels/effects/whatever... it'd be a ***** to use live and by the third gig he'd cut it down to a single amp and a few stompboxes.

A straight up A/B rig with no shared effects loop would be much simpler.

Easiest way:aby with a wet dry set up. coolest way.... gcx/rg-16and a midi foot controller. which as was said above is much more expensive.

Back when I had a Rec and a MKV, I ran the following

Guitar into an FP777 flying panner/phaser. Awesome effect but another topic. Into the MKV and Rec. Pedals in the loop of the MKV, Rec was dry. A/B/Y for amp selection. Solo Boost on the MKV footswitch to get a push in the mix for the MKV, either a clean part with the Rec off, or to punch in a lead.

Still do something similar with a dark voiced amp and a brighter one. Seems to just sound wide....
