I'm new to using an effects loop. I dont know the difference between serial or parallel or whatever. I'm buying a Roadster soon and want to use it. I have a carbon copy delay, boss ge-7, and mxr zw38 chorus. Which should be put through the effects loop and which through the front? Also, I've thought about adding an OD pedal to the mix. should that go through the front or EL? Thanks.

Try a search, there is a lot of info concerning the layout of effects in and out of the loop. I personally put everything out front, I tried the loop and like the ease of use but it did affect the sound in some ways, just need to play with it and see what you like. If memory serves I believe the rule of thumb is to put time based effects in the loop and distortion, fuzz, etc. out front..

when i had my roadster i thought the loop on it was awesome, some pedals work easier in loops than others, some of the pedals will need to have the levels set higher

but that all depends on which pedals you use and how you use them

i would always run the following pedals in the loop : delays, choruses, phasers, flangers, reverb pedals, and EQ pedals

boosts and overdrives sound best in front of the amp but honestly i never understood the reason of buying an amp that cost around 2k to run a $100 pedal in front of

thats just me thou good luck with the recto

Right on, thanks a lot. Mainly I'll only use my delay and chorus with the amp. Probably will get rid of the EQ. Just curious about running an OD out front though. I know some people do it. I know with a roadster it isn't necessary because that amp is out-freaking-standing! Not even any reason to boost because of the solo thing.

the Roadster is an outstanding amp but I always use a Boost in front of it for tight chugga chugga riffs

In front or in the loop, does it really matter if it's a $100 pedal? Either way it will affect the signal either prior to the amp or between the stages in an amp, just sayin........

run it both ways and let your ears decide... I actually run my board in front of the amp because I think the amp just sounds better overall without using the loop

Right on thanks. I may just do that seeing as it requires less cables and is a much simpler set up.
