Post high-res juicy gut shots of your Road Kings.

Come on, don't be shy.

I'm hoping to work out how the progressive linkage switching is achieved - is it done using FETs or relays? The poweramp board is mounted with the components on the underside though :(

They use very large relays and a switching buss that is relative to how each channels power section switch is set. all of the switches are board mounted and lead to the switching buss and the relays. All of the rear controls go to this power section/ linkage board. It's like an older server with tons of componentry and ribbon cables.

It's the same for the RK 1, II an II v.2.

I have the two different versions of the RK II and the relays are the same as the RK 1, which I had.

I would post shots if I had the server space, but sadly, you wont get anything from it. It's just the back trace of the circuit board and a smaller board with relays.

Here's one to get us started...

What is a RK v.2????? I kept the tag that came on my amp from GC and I had noticed that in the description of the amp it said this. Can someone enlighten me?

There are three versions of the Road King. The first is known as only the Road King.

There are two versions of the Road King II. The main difference I see between the RKII v.1 and v.2 is that v.2 has a tuner out with a tuner mute button on the footswitch. I think this replaced the midi latching outs on the RKII v.1

The RKII v2 has some minor upgrades:

On the King Controller II footswitch, the Ext. Trigger switch was converted to a Mute switch to allow quick muting of the amp's output while tuning up, and on the rear the Tuner Mute jack switch is used with external switching systems.

Also on the rear, the External Trigger mechanism was removed due to a lack of use by players and the two latch/pulse jacks were converted to Tuner Out and Tuner Mute switching jacks.

Apparently as the update required major changes to the logic circuit board inside the RKII no upgrades are available to existing RKIIs.

I didn't think they made any changes to the channel voicings when they changed from RK2 v1 to RK2 v2

I thought that was on the roadking to roadking II, not roadking II V1 to V2

They also made the Brit mode fatter and the Ch. 1 tweed breaks up very early with a bluesy tone.

I reall don't think it has anything to do with a RKII. My amp says just Road King on the front not RKII. It has to be about the RKI. I don't even have the tuner/mute thing.
